Which choice best plush vs twist 100% wool 11Mar 04, 2009 11:09 pm not too sure if anyone has covered this but wool being obviously a natural product its a great insulator... cool in summer and warm in winter, you cant get this in any synthetic carpet...
Wool is also very fire retardant, drop an iron on a wool carpet and you may get a few burnt fibres... on a synthetic go and replace it lol. I saw that you have kids... id probably suggest that you have wool carpets in the bedrooms and a good quality synthetic SDN (solution dyed nylon) for the lounge room, kids playroom, games room etc so for everyday spills and soiling at least your covered by a manafacturs guarentee. Last but not least,,,, plush and twist although extremely soft under foot will eventually fall and create noticable traffic areas (you mostly see this in hallways and bedroom doorways). go any style of loop pile Hope this helps Re: carpet confusion! Which choice best plush vs twist 100% wool 12Mar 04, 2009 11:15 pm oh i forgot.... rubber and foam.... personal prefrence, rubber is great for stairs as it has allowance for movement (you usually drag nont step on stairs) however foam has a more consistent feel.
they both are recycled products,,,, personal prefrence is definately rubber, but allllllllwayssss use a very good quality rubber or foam. the underlay is just as important as your carpet Re: carpet confusion! Which choice best plush vs twist 100% wool 13Mar 05, 2009 8:18 pm Thanks for all the advice, it has made the decsion process easier! Due to Petal's remarks we are looking at a plush in Cavalier Bremworth's range, colour: society. We have decided to go with Dunlop Ultimate underlay.
That carpet SuH looks beautiful, hope you are close to making a decision too. Re: 14Jun 03, 2009 1:07 am SuH Hi SuH We have ordered Metropol "Linear Logic"......you obviously have excellent taste. We ended up with the colour "Proportion" which is a mid-brown. It won't be installed for a few weeks, so we can't help you with any pics yet...sorry. That carpet SuH looks beautiful, hope you are close to making a decision too. If its not too late, I'd suggest Dunlop Excellay in preference to Ultimate. Samantha, You are looking at some up market carpets, but I have this concern..... An 80oz carpet will be exceptionally thick. I tend to suggest NOT choosing such a thick carpet. Although I DO promote densely tufted carpets, if they are very thick, you are just wastiing money, and a thinner carpet will probably perform better. This is because the thicker the carpet, the more room there is for compression and tracking. The "oz" rating refers to the weight of a square yard of the carpet. There are perfectly good dense pile wool carpets that will last years & years that are no more then around 40oz. I think heavier weight carpets are just not worth the extra $$$. And yeah.... Cavalier Bremworth are some of the best tufted carpets you can buy! Ash. Hi All, see above image. The required setback from the rear boundary in my case is 5m, as you can see the shape of the site and location of the boundary is slightly… 0 8451 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17858 As is per usual for many of the past failed RWH regulations, it is probably traceable to a bureaucrat who's ego overrode the need to seek the appropriate expert… 1 999 |
