Browse Forums Flooring & Floor Covering 1 Jul 23, 2015 8:13 am Hi, I'm caught in two minds and unfortunately dictated by our overall budget . We have the following two options: Option 1 : Vedura Bamboo(135x14) Ground Floor + Very Nice SDN carpet & great underlay to upper floor Option 2 : Solid timber Spotted Gum Ground floor (130x19) + Crap carpet & underlay to the upper floor Just wondering what you good folks would pick of the two? We had the exact same two choices. We've gone the nice timber floors (wormy chestnut) with crappy carpet because hardwood floors make me so happy. We plan to upgrade the carpet later, when our kidlets are older and less likely to spill/leak everywhere My build thread: Building our first home in the Ascot Estate Pakenham - East West Homes viewtopic.php?t=77799 Re: Flooring Dilemma - Bamboo/Carpet or SolidWood/Carpet 3Jul 29, 2015 7:37 pm Choose whichever you like best for your hard flooring. Carpet is so easy to change later. I also think spending money on nicer carpet isn't always the best option. We have been really disappointed with carpet that was supposed to be top of the line in terms of stain resistance, wear and tear, etc. It marked terribly for some reason and I hated it with a passion because of that. We had other friends who spent next to nothing on rubbish carpet and it doesn't seem to show a single mark or stain. It makes me so cranky! So now I will always choose crap carpet, until the kids are older at least Re: Flooring Dilemma - Bamboo/Carpet or SolidWood/Carpet 4Jul 30, 2015 6:33 am In our house we have solid hardwood throughout. I don't like carpet, period. Basically a haven for grossness, especially when you have indoor pets (or kids presumably) Building Services Engineer Renovating our 1960's modernist home in Brisbane https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=82091 Re: Flooring Dilemma - Bamboo/Carpet or SolidWood/Carpet 5Dec 10, 2015 9:58 pm Bamboo flooring was an innovative creation when it first swept the market. Although they’re already extremely durable, you need to ensure that you’re equipped with the tools and the know-how to have them gleaming forever.
