Browse Forums Window Furnishings 1 Apr 22, 2015 1:56 pm I’m looking at some internal shutters – my choices are the Newhaven (PVC) shutters from Boardwalk, or the aluminium shutters from ABC.. Pricing is quite similar, and I’m happy to pay the difference for the better product – what are the advantages/disadvantages of both? Re: PVC vs Aluminium shutters 2Apr 22, 2015 3:30 pm I don't know much about the aluminium, but my polyresin ones are lifetime guarantee (25 years plus). Is it the same for the others? Re: PVC vs Aluminium shutters 3Apr 22, 2015 11:43 pm If be interested in people's opinions as well commenting to follow Re: PVC vs Aluminium shutters 5Apr 23, 2015 5:07 pm The aluminum shelters may rust in the presence of moisture & may also dent over time. The plus for aluminum shelters would be their capacity of reflecting sunlight which keeps the inner area cool and the pricing which is lesser than the pricing involved for PVC shelters. PVC shelters are costly but looks elegant and are good in terms of durability. Re: PVC vs Aluminium shutters 7Apr 23, 2015 8:12 pm Polyresin is UV proof and these shutters can be used inside or out. Re: PVC vs Aluminium shutters 8Apr 24, 2015 9:41 am Aluminium is conductive so will get warm in summer and cool in winter so PVC would be a better option in that respect. It also keep out noise and light that may be disruptive for you which makes it great in the residential setting. yep sounds good make the footing bigger to to allow for the pipe in the middle 3 5284 Plumbers 'can be' plumbers, made all the worse by self certification which the building surveyor invariably accepts as proof of compliance! The good thing is that you know know. 3 3239 You can put a roller blind behind the shutters. It will be much less noticeable when not in use. 3 17992 |
