Browse Forums Window Furnishings 1 Aug 02, 2013 12:44 pm I can't decide what window treatments to put where. At the moment I'm thinking verticals for the sliding doors,a roller blind for the kitchen window and wood look Venetians for the other windows. I do like the look of roman blinds but are they complete blockout? Am I better off going for curtains in the bedrooms and theatre room to ensure complete block out? What's everyone thoughts please? Thnx. Re: window treatments - your thoughts please 2Aug 03, 2013 1:12 am I was just browsing some online blind websites. Looks like you can get block out romans or light filtering types. Aside from that, there seems to be a big variation in prices between the websites I have seen Re: window treatments - your thoughts please 4Aug 03, 2013 8:31 am I think curtains will offer better blockout than romans. I haven't decided which window treatments I'm having yet but for our theatre room I'm leaning towards one of those see through roller blinds with a heavy blockout curtain on top. For our bedroom I'd like sheer and blockout curtains but with the sheer curtain on top and the blockout fabric behind it. And for the bedrooms block out curtains, and still undecided about other windows,I love the look of romans but am worried about how much light comes in at the side.thanks again, happy building! Re: window treatments - your thoughts please 6Aug 04, 2013 10:35 pm You could also do blinds plus curtains if you're worried about light coming though the edges. May I ask your reason for doing the blockout fabric behind the sheer and not the other way around? https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: window treatments - your thoughts please 9Sep 27, 2013 6:47 pm I personally think it's a much softer and more modern look. You use a block out fabric on a second track behind the sheer curtain. Here are two examples. http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x400/smallnads/photo_zps72a46c87.jpg http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x400/smallnads/photo_zps64e39922.jpg Custom downslope build Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61873 Blog http://www.buildingroyalmanor.blogspot.com.au Re: window treatments - your thoughts please 10Sep 27, 2013 6:57 pm I have never even thought to do that, might keep it in mind when we get to that stage https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: window treatments - your thoughts please 11Sep 27, 2013 7:31 pm navs I have never even thought to do that, might keep it in mind when we get to that stage I have to admit it's not something I had thought of either until I saw it in a display home last year. Fell in love with the look. You can definitely get block out blinds. If you don't recess them and make them at least 20 cms wider than your window they will block out the light as much as block out curtains.
