I'd like to import some fabric from UK for soft furnishings which would be lovely as blinds too. I wonder if I can buy a ready made and dismantle the fabric and replace. Or 'laminate' it to the fabric on the complete unit. I have previously made my own curtains but not blinds. I'm curious to hear from anyone who has done this themselves or is also going to Re: Custom fabric blinds 2Feb 10, 2013 1:18 pm you can do this but unless the fabric you are buying is blockout, you will have to bond it to the blind fabric which is not an easy task as the glue can seap through the fabric. You could also ask a retailer to bond the fabric for you & re assemble the blind yourself. Another option is to buy blinds in a plain colour that will tie in with the fabric you are buying, make pelmets 90mm face and use the fabric to cover the pelmets. no need for padding as this is the trend these days. Be aware if you are bonding the blinds you will need to roll them forward into the room which will let in more light. If you have them rolling to the back, the lining will be seen at the top of the blind which will be a different colour. Re: Custom fabric blinds 3Feb 13, 2013 1:30 am Excellent - thank you Kelly.
