They work a treat in both summer and winter for insulation. If they aren't used on a hot day you sure notice it and like wise on a cold wintery day. excellent storm protection too. they are excellent for keeping out the bur-gurglers too ![]() Shutters and D. glazing 22Mar 02, 2009 2:49 pm I am having both plantation shutters and D.glazing for my custom designed house . I want that St. Regis/resort feel to my house.(If the budget stretches that far)
I am sourcing both products from overseas, we pay way too much for these products in Australia. On the 46c day in Melbourne, the cake shop with west facing d. glazing still lost all it's cakes, they melted!!!!!!!!! Sometimes Nth and West windows need heavier coverage than shutters even with d.glazing. Cheers Go the Victory! We have them on the kids' windows and they are nice and cool there tonight when everywhere else is hot... also it keeps them in the dark a bit longer in the mornings ![]() "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. We're building the PD Regent 23.. with double glazed windows to front and rumpus bedrooms (mainly for sound insulation). wanting shutters everywhere but they cost the earth! I think the picture that has been placed on this thread is from the firm we are looking at. They are assembled in Queensland but made in Sweden and Canada. We are going with white and the warranty is 25 years.
Reasons- no maintenance, they don't bow like wood and we have been told they do not fade. We have seen loads of venetian wood blinds too that bow and hang badly in the displays that are 2-3 years old. They are three to four times more expensive than wood shutters but we just felt they were superior. I have seen a similar set in a display home in Woodlands Waters. PM me if you need the location and also if you want the details of our blind and shutter guy who is also quite local to Mernda. We too have done about 5 windows in double glaze facing west and busy street to cut down noise and help with insulation. We had them in London when we lived there and they are terrific.
