Does the banging happen on all styles of windows(awning.sliding)?
is it just the recess ones or both(ones that fit outside of frame)?

they bang when you have a window open.

Re: Roller Blinds Banging! 22Jan 19, 2012 8:40 am I have one blind inside and the other on the outside of the window frame. They both bang. ee have sliding windows and they r really noisy. Our bedroom has the wind out window its not as bad. It is so annoying and they are not the ideal choice 4 evap cooling u have 2 lift them right up or they get sucked back into the window. Re: Roller Blinds Banging! 23Jan 19, 2012 3:20 pm Thanks Deb,spoke to a company today, thinking will have a blockout on outside of frame and sheers over top.(thinking ) Re: Roller Blinds Banging! 24Jan 19, 2012 4:04 pm pattycake4 Thanks Deb,spoke to a company today, thinking will have a blockout on outside of frame and sheers over top.(thinking ) We have sheers as well. the inner blind the mesh one doesnt bang like the one on top. right now we have the top blind all the way up bottom blind down. we have air on and its not banging much at all. with evap air u need windows open. so of a night or a real hot day we keep blinds down so heat not getting in. So u have the banging and the blinds getting sucked back. the drapes on sliders the best and our bedroom. They look great the blinds but the banging is bad, real bad. Re: Roller Blinds Banging! 25Jan 19, 2012 4:18 pm Yes you would think the mesh wouldn't be the problem as air can move through, lady today said if l have blockout over frame l could use the felt dots, wouldn't see them from inside or out.ps thanks for your input Deb. Re: Roller Blinds Banging! 26Jan 19, 2012 6:44 pm OK,l am in my DD rental why my house gets built,DD has a recess roller blind on a sliding window, when window is open blind bangs up against frame.l know people have used felt, tonight l have put self-adhesive vinyl bumpers, they look like small circles of silicone l put on the back rod one each end,l put the other two where when window is half open(where frame pertrudes) no more banging. as l said done this has be done before, been silicone you can't see them Re: Roller Blinds Banging! 28Jan 19, 2012 7:44 pm l have had them for a long time,K Mart or two dollar shop, they use them under lamps, china, pottery etc on package it has Surface Gard. The same things you see on glass chopping boards, like little feet. I'm not sure what their exact name is but they are large (600mm long and as wide as the space between roof beams) and have some sort of counterweight arrangement so that as the evap unit pressurises the inside of the house it lets the air return back to the ceiling space. When the house isn't pressurised (evap off or ducted heating on) the vent closes and seals. As I don't have sarking it can then exit to outside. This has the added benefit of cooling the ceiling space but that doesn't help much as the ceiling insulation is R3; ceiling heat doesn't have much impact on living space temperature. I expect to need two of these vents, one in the central hallway and one in the WIR of the master bedroom. The WIR vent is so that I can close the master bedroom door at night keeping out the noise of the other occupants of the house in the living areas. I intent to self install these vents after handover. Re: Roller Blinds Banging! 31Jan 20, 2012 7:15 pm We've got these in the rental we're in whilst building and I can't stand the banging or the fact that unless you have sheer ones underneath they are either open or closed no in between. I don't think we'll have them in our new place, I'd rather wooden venetians which you can angle and have air flow through. Re: Roller Blinds Banging! 33Feb 19, 2014 9:31 pm Gday guys Nathan here from http://www.stopnoisyblinds.com.au This was a problem for me a few years back so I have actually invented and patented a solution that works perfectly Basically all I did was use a suction cup to stick to the window with a clip attached to the arm that attached itself to the bottom rail of the blind! The bottom clamp is designed to suit the round bars up to 20mm and the oval bars up to 25mm. I will also be releasing new versions to suit the bigger rectangle bars and also venetian blinds soon. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Installed, it is pretty much invisible Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I have tested it extensively and it can cop a hiding in big winds without coming off and as it is just stuck to the window that slides, when you want to open or close the window with the blind at your selected height you just leave it attached and it slides along the bottom rail! It is also adjustable vertically so for my rooms that face the street and cop a lot of sun I pretty much just leave it on all the time and when I want the blind up 100mm or so just use the adjustable arm to swing it to the height I want and just re tension the blind. To avoid the bottom rail being damaged by the clip rubbing there is a thin piece of felt attached to the inside too. Anyway I hope you guys like it. They are available from http://www.stopnoisyblinds.com.au and will soon be available through this website too. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions if you any and post up some pics of yours in action with some feedback as to how they are working for you if you do end up buying one. Wouldn't the blinds block the breeze anyway? Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65085 Re: Roller Blinds Banging! 35Feb 20, 2014 2:16 pm EmyN Is there any point having the window open if the roller blinds are down? Wouldn't the blinds block the breeze anyway? I have blinds most of the way down with enough of a gap for a breeze to still come through. So yes there is plenty of point in having the window open However I don't see how these would work on awning windows. They would only be of use on sliding windows of which I have none. The window opens outwards so these wouldn't be long enough - and if you have fly wire screens there is nothing to stick them to. Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Re: Roller Blinds Banging! 36Feb 22, 2014 9:11 am Enyn, yes even with the blind fully down the breeze still comes in, don't forget you can have the at any height, I find 100mm from the window sill perfect for letting the breeze in and still maintaining privacy at my place. Bluesuede sorry I haven't come up with a way to get around the awning windows, the roller blinds that are attached to the 2 guide lines are probably the best solution for you. Also will there be options of different colours Re: Roller Blinds Banging! 38Feb 25, 2014 9:28 am Hi Candycandy, Yes they are available on the website now for $29.95 for a pack of 2. I will be looking to do a bunch of different coloured stickers for the fronts shortly, plus a few flower designs too. Too expensive to change the PVC to each colour unfortunately. cheers Finally a way to stop those annoying banging blinds! http://www.stopnoisyblinds.com.au Breeze-Ins Pty Ltd 1300 557 803 nathan@stopnoisyblinds.com.au Re: Roller Blinds Banging! 39Oct 26, 2014 4:56 pm I don't recommend those breeze-ins, the customer service at that place is non-existent. It is near impossible to get an order status update and they just lie about shipping information anyway. Truly they are not worth your time or effort.
