Browse Forums Window Furnishings 1 Sep 13, 2009 12:01 pm Hi everyone,
Wow, I'm so glad I found this forum while searching for things for my house on the net. We are in WA and are building our new home in the south west. We have built twice before, but it doesn't make things any easier this time around. We had our plans drawn up as we have an awkward shape block and wanted something to suit. The plans are now in getting the working drawings done up and we should go to prestart by early October, (if I don't have baby number 3 by then ) I'm sure I am going to have plenty of questions to ask, but thought I'd start my own thread to see the progress. Here are our plans http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2528/391 ... 70fe_b.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2575/391 ... b823_b.jpg There are a few minor changes, but nothing really major. I can't wait to start as we have always been in our own house for the last 9 years and I don't like this renting thing lol. Looking forward to getting to know everyone Re: our house - individual design 2Sep 13, 2009 12:10 pm Oh, I thought I should share what we have picked out so far, hmmmm, subject to change lol. Roof - woodland grey colourbond render paint - I think it's called colourbond dune Archistone cladding on the from pillars of the portico and part of the wall that sticks out next to the portico. Living area floors - still deciding between blackbutt or marri, but leaning towards marri. Re: our house - individual design 4Sep 13, 2009 4:26 pm What a lovely and unusual floor plan. Just my two cents worth ... maybe look where the powder room toilet it located. if the bedroom is a full time in use bedroom, the toilet butting on to the bed side of the wall can be ... um..... noisy Re: our house - individual design 5Sep 13, 2009 4:51 pm HI Rizzo welcome to the forum and Hi and welcome to someone else building in the southwest of WA. Hope all goes well for your build and congrats on going for bub number 3. Best wishes for the soon to happen events. ( prestart and new bub) Re: our house - OMG, we have a tap!! 6Oct 01, 2009 10:16 pm I know it's not a biggy, but we happened to drive by our block today, and I noticed a marker on it, so we went for a closer inspection and they have installed the water meter and a tap. The reason I'm spun out... we havent signed contracts yet, or had the loan approved!!! Is this normal?? Re: our house - individual design 7Oct 01, 2009 10:34 pm hmm that is a little odd, perhaps ask them, maybe it's on the wrong block! good luck, I'll be watching you go! A thankful person is a happy person. [/color]My hobby design blog: http://aviewondesign.blogspot.com/ Re: our house - individual design 8Oct 01, 2009 10:50 pm Yeh, I thought it was odd too. I can't see it being the wrong block, pretty much most of the street is developed and the ones that aren't are for sale. We did pay extra with the deposit, so maybe they are being nice lol. Just heard that contracts are ready, so hoping we can sign them on the weekend, yeeha, now just stressing over all the extras we are adding Re: our house - individual design 9Oct 01, 2009 10:53 pm What a great plan Rizzo!! Can't wait to see it being built viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: our house - pre - start done, selections! 10Oct 07, 2009 6:47 pm Well, did pre-start today and contracts are all signed. Lets just keep fingers crossed our loan goes through without any hassles. I'm 3 weeks off being due with our third bub, and I think I will literally cry if that doesn't go through. I'm dreading to see what our variations comes back with, but they were excellent with suggestions and also threw in a lot of little upgrades, like the tri-locks and kitchen and bathroom door handles, for nothing. Not a lot, but it does add up in the end. Our selections are as follows. Exterior Roof, fascias and gutters - colourbond, woodland grey Portico - limestone cladding, with cedar lined ceiling, with stained pivot door to entry to match portico ceiling. Garage door - cedar look. Render - (whole house) colourbond Dune, but we are thinking of having it at only half strength. Kitchen cupboards - formica charred oak Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Tops - essa stone purity Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ With white glass splashback Ensuite Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Without the grey laminate. The cupboards and the tops will both be the blackened linewood and the walls will be fully tiled to the ceiling in a gloss white 300x600 tile. and these sinks Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Main bathroom Same as above but with this sink Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We did have a double sinks in that bathroom too, but we "down"graded to one otherwise two of those would have taken up most of the bench. Laundry Same tiles as bathrooms, but with smokey sapelle on the cupboards and platinum micro on the tops We are also having cupboards and benchtops in the barbeque recess to match the kitchen seeing as you will be looking out onto it when standing in the kitchen. Hmmmm, lots of other upgrades like taps and oven and lighting etc, but won't bore you with all those lol. I hope it all goes and looks alright in the end. Please, fingers crossed this loan goes through, it's pre-approved, pretty much just subject to valuation, which we all know is iffy at this point in time. Thanks for looking Re: our house - papers signed 11Dec 29, 2009 9:41 pm woohoo, mortgage papers signed today, so hopefully we'll see some action on site soon. We are looking at around 10 months for our house, which is fine, as we need to buckle down and save for the finishing things as our land value came in waaaaay too low and ate up all our saved up cash for the stuff after handover. So next christmas we should be in our own home, possibly minus flooring, gardens etc, but who cares lol. Re: our house - papers signed 12Dec 29, 2009 10:50 pm WOW, be careful you don't get lost in that place. Nice and big! The alfresco is great. Im loving the theater room and its position! NO EXPECTATIONS, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS! I can overlook your lack of WIR's in the kids' bedrooms (my all time personal favorite thing!) because the house is lovely, great little features here and there, love the drying area, and I really love that you are putting extra effort into getting your barby area to match your kitchen cabinets etc... This is intuitive... Most people don't make that extra effort for one reason or another, so I can see that your home is going to be gorgeous! dark cabinets in ensuite - we did that - you will love it! It's gorgeous!!!! well done, very well done indeed!!!! A thankful person is a happy person. It's starting to feel like we are building. The lines have been marked on the pad for the brickwork, so it was good to be able to get a feel of the rooms and their sizes. Very happy with it so far!! Re: our house - brickwork pics 19Mar 18, 2010 5:30 pm Aww thanks guys. There are a few things I would change, but only minor. I wanted an activity where I could see the kids from the kitchen, but also close it off, so it's perfect and for resale it could be used as anything Re: our house - brickwork pics 20Mar 18, 2010 7:44 pm We are almost finished. Up to tiling. We often think of minor changes but nothing too huge that couldn't be done in the future. We'll have these in mind for our next build. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10248 have you used any of the motorised curtain systems available from Ebay?
