Has anyone used Madeka Shutters for their window furnishings? We left a $1000 deposit 6 months ago and are still waiting for our shutters. I have been calling Paul from there for 3 weeks now and he just won't return my calls. I'd love to know if anyone actually received their order from him. He was so good and accommodating when we were purchasing, but there's been no follow through. Anything anyone knows, good or bad, I would love to hear. Thanks. Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 2Apr 30, 2007 9:42 pm That is a disgusting performance from a supplier!!!
You know I have noticed over the years how 3 words seem to make people move faster!!!! A CURRENT AFAIR, yep…that will get his attention. I know we like to stay as calm and sane as possible when things are not right…but remember you have rights, and let me tell you, this man has over stepped his! Get down to his doorstep and make it known to his face that you are over waiting, and you want your money back…..NOW!. If not….. the camera crew will follow!!! You watch how fast things will move!! Good luck. Let me know how you get on. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 3May 01, 2007 3:19 pm Low and behold my threatening phone call about finding every website I could to discredit him and writing to Consumer Affairs got a response this morning.
No apology however! Can you believe this man just rings and says oh okay this is what I can do I can install them for you next Tuesday okay? I'm like, What The? How about an explanation about what the hell has been going for starters....... Long story short he said something about the shutters going missing and then him finding them in WA of all places. To be honest I don't care we'll just see if he turns up next week. Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 4May 03, 2007 12:30 pm Just spoke with my brother and it's now a lot clearer why Paul finally called me.
I asked my brother to ring and pretend he wanted a quote just to see if the guy would call back. Sure enough he rang right back and then asked so what can I do for you mate. My brother (bless him) then says, "Well you can call my sister" Paul was like, "What?" and my brother says, "My sister is very stressed and upset and I don't like seeing her like that and it's because you won't return her calls. So just call her." Paul was like, "I've done it okay, I called okay." He hadn't called me at all, but he did call the next day. Very happy with my brother I am. Hee hee. Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 5May 10, 2007 10:04 am MASSIVE SHOCK - He didn't turn up Wednesday or Thursday!!! (sarcastic tone evident)
At least he actually rang though. Firstly he says he finally found our shutters in WA but that they included no magnets with the package. So we made the appointment for Thursday so he could get some. Then Thursday comes and now he doesn't have the right hinges. I mean honestly this guy is an absolute joke. He still says he'll come next week on Tuesday but I have absolutely no confidence in what he says now. Consumer affairs said they'll give him a call today so I'll wait to see how they went. Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 6May 10, 2007 10:34 am All window suppliers will have in stock handles, hinges….and anything else relating to a job.
They should not have to order every little thing every time they do a fit. This guy is joke….I have had no phone call or anything from the letter I sent to the guys who stood me up either. Get your money back…..I’m now wondering what sort of job he is going to do when installing the shutters!!!! Will it be worth THAT nightmare as well???? Are they up yet??? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 9May 16, 2007 10:23 am Thanks for asking Michelle.
After cancelling twice last week we had him booked in for last night at 5pm. Shock - He just didn't turn up and hasn't called or anything. Consumer affairs have rung him twice and he hasn't returned their calls either, so they sent him a letter yesterday. I am also going ahead with applying for a refund from our bank due to not receiving the goods. I sent him along email this morning about just how disappointed we were with him. But I don't expect to get a reply. It's so upsetting that we have wasted the first 6 months in our new home waiting for shutters that haven't come. We now have to start all over again from scratch. I WARN EVERYONE TO STAY WELL CLEAR OF THIS MAN AND HIS COMPANY. Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 10May 16, 2007 10:37 am Dazcla, I’m so sorry it has got to this.
But this is what I expected from the man, and I didn’t want to have to see you put up with! There should be a law against people like that going into business; it really gets my back up!!! Let me know how you get on with getting your money back, good thing is, if he holds out on that, it could be “Good night Charlie” for him. Yayyyyyyyy!!!! Get moving on a reputable company….it won’t take long once you get the ball rolling! GOOD LUCK!! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 11May 26, 2007 10:01 am Consumer Affairs rang me yesterday to say that Paul from Madeka finally called them and really wants to resolve the matter and install our shutters next week.
What The????????? If he wanted to resolve the matter then why the F*&%$ hasn't he turned up or called us? Consumer Affairs were great and they told him that they had closed the file and the matter was now going to VCAT which I think scared him and he begged them to let him resolve it. So basically I have a dilemma. I know this guy is ******* with his business practice, BUT we can't find anyone who's willing to divert from the standard and fit shutters to our awkward windows. We really want shutters! We know we probably have no hope getting any warranty out of him now even if he does turn up and install them so we're not sure what to do. I have told consumer affairs to book him in anyway, but we are thinking that perhaps once he turns up that we could offer him less money than the balance for the inconvenience he has caused and also the fact that we can't trust him with warranty. He may walk out again, but we don't want to get ripped off again. Hubby was prepared to waive warranty with other companies if they'd install them so that's not the issue, it's just that we don't want to pay for a warranty that we may not be able to claim on. Does this make sense? Or should we just let him install them and leave it at that. To be honest I don't actually expect him to turn up anyway. What should we do? Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 12May 26, 2007 10:15 am I can’t believe you are thinking of letting the idiot anywhere near your home!
This man does not deserve to be in business, and should be shut down, by letting him go ahead you are encouraging his survival! I know you really want shutters, but what if the idiot puts them up and in a years time they fall off, or break or do not shutter………you know what I’m getting at!!! What will you do then….you will have a house full of shutters that are SH**, then what? Keep looking, try Luxaflex, I’m sure they will do custom made. The most important thing is that you shut this guy down if possible. Who knows how many people he has ripped off in the past. Where do you live again? I might be able to help you find a supplier!!!! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 13May 26, 2007 11:30 am Yikes!
Demand your money back. I think waiting 6 months is rediculous. And I agree - don't let him anywhere near your house! I hope it sorts itself out Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 14May 27, 2007 11:56 am We are in Melbourne Michelle.
It's only 3 windows that we want them for. The problem is our builder didn't give us the windows we asked for, but we didn't realise and signed off on them. So the problem is that there is only just 5mm depth to fit the shutters in. Victory and Home Outlet both said they couldn't do it and Luxaflex never actually got back to us with a quote which turned us off a bit. We are still going to wait for him here at the house and at the very least demand a refund face to face. I just have to convince hubby to not let him do them now. Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 15May 28, 2007 1:09 pm Good grief….what a nightmare for you!
Good luck, bit disappointed in Luxaflex, the local guy here in Nowra would never have done that to you! Let me know if you need some help! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 16May 28, 2007 2:38 pm Honestly, what a absolute nightmare for you.
I really can't begin to get my head around people and companies like this! The sad news is they get away with it!! Let him install the blinds and simply just don't pay him the balance. This company isn't even worth the $1000 you've paid, and as Michelle said what if the quality of the blinds don't stand the test of time? I'm absolutely furious for you. One last thought.......A Current Affair Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 17May 28, 2007 9:16 pm I am so sorry to hear about this terrible situation! this man sounds very suss and I would be getting my $1000 back. How did they end up in WA? likely story!!
We waited 8 weeks for our plantation shutters (made by hand), they are made of cedar and are beautiful. They are made to measure to fit any window. The quality of them is lovely and the company is a family owned business. We are very pleased with their service and product. Get your $$ back and cut your losses mate and try someone else. Dont let this pig in your home. Check out.... www.mcbinteriors.com.au good luck. Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 18May 29, 2007 10:27 am Leanne thanks for the referral. Judging by their phone number it looks like they may be local to me.
We want basswood though to match some others we have, but we'll give them a call if we have no luck. Unfortunately DH still wants him to come, so we'll play it by ear IF he turns up tonight. I'm only 5% hopeful he'll even show up. I'll let you know how we go. Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 19May 30, 2007 10:43 am Well hubby waited for him last night and of course he didn't turn up.
The only reason I agreed to have him come is that I'm building a lovely case for when I go to VCAT. We have accommodated him at every turn. There will be no more chances though. What I can't understand though is why he would bother to respond Consumer Affairs at all saying he'll come if he had no intention of turning up? Is he really that horrible a person that he is just still playing with us. I wonder if I can claim for phone calls and lost wages at VCAT for all the time we have missed work waiting for him to attend and the calls we have made trying to get him to respond? So bring on the referrals, I still want shutters and will try everyone now. I am trawling through the yellow pages now, but won't be choosing anyone who doesn't have a showroom or street address that I can turn up to at least. Re: Madeka Shutters Melbourne - *Update* 20May 30, 2007 11:32 am Anybody suprised???
