Browse Forums Window Furnishings 1 May 27, 2008 10:52 am Hi, we are building a 22 square home, we've had plans drawn up and have now just approved them so will be getting contracts done up and then will go for council approval, what i'm wanting to know is how much roughly do you think it will cost to get timber blinds throughout (6 windows 1.8m and 2 smaller windows either side of double entrance doors), the other thing we will be looking at is some sort of roman blind or drop down sunblind to go over the bifold doors leading out to alfresco area. Any idea on what sort of funds i will need for this? I will be getting quotes obviously but that will be further down the track, I am wondering if my whole 1st home owners grant will be required for this or if i will get change and if so how much change?
TIA Re: Cost of Blinds/Curtains throughout new home 2May 27, 2008 12:13 pm FHB, where are you building? It might be a good idea to update your profile with your state perhaps?
Cause, depending on what state you're from some of our members might have some recommendations for you? Re: Cost of Blinds/Curtains throughout new home 3May 27, 2008 5:57 pm fhb,
If you know your window sizes try: http://www.cheap%20blinds.com.au You can get a price for each different size... I would imagine for 8 windows you should be under $4000 though (depending on sizes) Re: Cost of Blinds/Curtains throughout new home 4May 27, 2008 6:47 pm Check out iseekblinds.com.au. I have purchased romans and timber venetions from them and their quality is excellent. It's seff install. You just type in the measurements on their website, choose type of blind, material and colour and you get an instant quote. Its then up to you to order. Blinds are delivered in around 3 weeks. Install is pretty easy. About half the price of the larger blind firms. They are based in Preston, VIC. Re: Cost of Blinds/Curtains throughout new home 5Jun 03, 2008 8:05 pm Another alternative which is what we did was wait for the stocktake sales and shop around, we purchased ours from Spotlight, they were 50% off so we saved a packet luckily for me my mother-in-law made Austrians as well and we have those as a pelmet over our timber blinds, it helps as she made them out of 100% blockout calico so when its really hot they are let down to keep the house cool. Looks beautiful too. Re: Cost of Blinds/Curtains throughout new home 6Jun 07, 2008 6:15 pm I too have purchased my blinds from iseek blinds and found them excellent to deal with they will even install them very cheaply, just waiting now to get into our house to get them. We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds.
