You know, the type that's a lot like the stuff used for outdoor awnings but not canvas.

Some years ago when wanting to recover my outdoor lounge and chairs (and being a cheapskate) I found some upholstery fabric at a discount curtain/upholstery store (since closed unfortunately) can't even remember what I paid but do know it was a really good price for good quality fabric. It was never sprayed with waterproof spray etc although it did fade a little but that was OK because the colour ended up being exactly what I wanted from the beginning. It's still in use today and must be at 'least' 8 years old, about twice a year the covers are removed and put through the washing machine because they get a bit dusty but have never had a mould problem. Maybe check out your local Spotlight store (or similar) and look in the decorating dept where they sometimes have end-of-roll fabrics for a few dollars, while there you can also buy continuous zipper by-the-metre or regular dress zips, these will depend on the size of your cushions. I used dress zips in the small cushions and a continuous zip on the seat cushion of the lounge which is a 2 seater. Hope this helps? Re: Outdoor Fabrics 9Apr 25, 2010 9:28 am HappyCamper_au, thanks your post WAS helpful. The chairs are undercover, so they won't get wet unless a storm is 'wild & woolly'. So it's only the dust I guess I'm really concerned about & possibly grubby fingers Will have a look at spotlight.
