North to rear (southern frontage) is more desirable, as your north facing living areas will face the sun, & the backyard. This is important for comfort & energy efficiency (lower bills). So this could effect price.
Undesirable blocks may be on busy roads, be unusual shapes, have easements that can't be built on, etc.
