Browse Forums Buying Land 1 Sep 20, 2019 2:13 pm Hi all, might be a silly question but thought best to ask. We bought a small block of land 18mx25m (450sqm) in a new estate. Those boundary measurements are outlined being from the curb according to the estate plans etc so our setback is from the curb. Does this mean we don’t have a council nature strip? Re: Land lot size include nature strip? 3Sep 20, 2019 3:31 pm it does depend, in my area the nature strip is maintained by the homeowner, although the council will plant street trees and replace them if they die. But day to day maintenance and care falls on the homeowner. Re: Land lot size include nature strip? 4Sep 20, 2019 4:40 pm They won’t be from the curb. It’s probably a master plan of the estate before footpaths and roads are shown. Your 450m2 is yours, then there will be a footpath and nature strip. If no footpath there will still be a section of nature strip which is yours to maintain but you don’t own it. That’s where our pegs were set out. So your setback is what, 4.5m, maybe 5m back from the street that cars drive along? BS.
