Browse Forums Buying Land 1 Aug 01, 2019 10:00 pm Hi, I am looking to approach a farmer in Little River (Vic) and ask if he is willing to subdivide 5 acres off his land. I have an estimate of the cost of a house and am now trying to understand the cost to connect utilities (Water/Electricity. Sewerage I imagine will be through a septic tank). I called the water/power companies but they said they can't give me an estimate of costs till I have an official lot number/address which won't exist till I actually go through the subdivision with the farmer and buy the land. I'm trying to understand rough ball park costs (i.e. is is $5,000, $15,000 or $50,000) but am not sure who to talk to next. What do you all think? I thought maybe the local town planners. Any other folks? Thanks in advance! Utility companies will have to check capacity of their system to add extra loads. For example the overhead powerlines may need a new transforer to increase capacity and yhen the $'s start rolling in. You'll never get an approximation from them. You are better off paying an electrician and plumber for a few hours to have a look and give an opinion. I'll confirm with the farmer he's looking to sell up and then find some tradies to take a look and see what they think. Thanks again! So, their lawyer said that this is impossible and they will have to wait.… 6 924 ![]() 4 1993 |
