Browse Forums Buying Land Re: Copyright? 2Oct 30, 2015 9:38 am It's an interesting question. Strictly speaking, you can't just post stuff that other people have copyright to with approval to do so. I think they would tend to turn a blind to things that don't negatively affect them though. The big reason they would want to enforce copyright is to avoid the case where they work with someone on a design, and then they go and get that design built with another builder. They would also want to prevent other builders "stealing" their designs, but the standard floorplans tend to be all available on their websites anyhow. The specific dimensions may add some value, but by and large you wouldn't be putting anything on the web that the builders themselves don't already have there. Re: Copyright? 3Nov 11, 2015 6:45 pm For project builders like Metricon, where the plans are available online, I don't think its a problem to post them. If it's a custom build, it can't hurt to ask permission first. I asked my builder for permission to share my floorplan, he didn't have a problem with it. I sort of did, I hope no one borrows my plan!! It's unique for me It's even named after me. My suggestion, ask your builder and see what they think. |
