Browse Forums Buying Land 1 Apr 03, 2015 5:03 pm Hi I'm new here. Complete newbie when it comes to building. We are looking at buying land soon but due to my husband starting a new job we most likely will have to wait 3months probationary period til bank will lend us money. There is some land we may be interested in but am wondering since we need to wait 3 mths if sellers may take a holding deposit? Is this such a thing? In NSW. Re: Holding deposit on land 2Apr 08, 2015 12:44 pm If the land isn't registered yet, you might be able to wrangle something as the settlement won't happen until the land is registered. But if it's already registered I don't think they'd give you 3 months pending finance. Might be worth waiting until you can get pre-approval just in case? Most want something signed in a week or two, but you never know. Can't hurt to ask? You should still look for land, a lot I wanted was still available 3 months later (I ended up picking another block). In NSW the maximum deposit for building work is 5% until the builder provides HBCF insurance 1 4821 Yeah I don't know why I came to a forum.
