Browse Forums Buying Land 1 Apr 01, 2015 6:11 pm Hi all, Trying to get opinions of Homeone members on an issue with our block. We purchased a block in March and are currently waiting on finance approval and settlement (both should happen this month). We have since been advised our stage is going on promotion with a $15,000 rebate on blocks. This is a little disappointing as we were told no promos were coming, as the land was selling well. What would you do? I see a couple of options: 1. Forget about it and just move on 2. Speak to land agent nicely and negotiate Failing the conversation with the land agent, as finance isn't approved yet, we could get a finance declinal letter, cancel the block and re-sign or is this something you would advise against? Normally I would leave it, but as we were tod no promos were on the horizon and since it is a decent chunk of money, I feel I should make a point of it. Open to advice and suggestions. Have a look out for cooling off periods. That might be your best bet. Thanks - affordability isn't the issue at all - I have no doubt we will get approved and definitely can afford it, however $15000 is half our pool and something that would have been known about by the builder when we signed, despite them saying they knew nothing about promos coming up. But I expect they'll say that at the time to the best of their knowledge, there wasn't. It might be worth speaking to the land agent nicely anyway - it wouldn't hurt to ask the question. By all means you could ask nicely and see if you can negotiate with the land agent. Would depend on what the contract you signed said but it is worth pulling out and losing your deposit? (I know mine was only 2k on my block). Then re-signing. An issue you have to consider with my suggestion is: what happens if someone else gets that block. Is there others available that suit your requirements?
