Browse Forums Buying Land 1 Nov 05, 2014 9:38 am Hi there We are just starting to look for land and trying to find land that is 600 +m2 in the south eastern suburbs of melbourne. But land around is 450-500m2....how do we find out about future land releases that hasnt been released yet? Who do we talk to? TIA Re: How do you find out about future land releases? 2Nov 05, 2014 2:07 pm I think you will find that new releases will not be over 600 square meters. You can talk to your council about what they have approved. 600+ are consider enormous blocks and apparently people don't want large blocks anymore. But I believe it has more to do with councils wanting to reduce maintenance cost and developers wanting to make more money. Re: How do you find out about future land releases? 5Nov 05, 2014 3:44 pm It's tricky. People often say that they want big blocks but with the price of land these days, any larger blocks tend to take a really long time to sell. I used to work for a large developer and it was always the larger blocks that were left at the end. The smaller blocks were always snapped up as it was a price point issue. Good luck in finding your perfect block. Cheers, Jenny. Need hints, tips and inspiration? Join me on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ournewhomecoach Who am I? Half the reason they take ages to sell is they're usually a stupid shape. Hoping people will get bamboozled by the size without realising siting issues. Ends of courts sometimes hav larger decent shape blocks in new estates. Keep an eye out there Creator of superduperonium, expert at expert things, nobel laureate, can hold my breath for 10 minutes. Re: How do you find out about future land releases? 8Nov 05, 2014 6:44 pm Hey jenathome, how good would it be if the big blocks where the same price as the current 400 squaremeter lots. Then they sell the smaller blocks for less again. The small blocks have allowed developers to continue to increase land prices per square meter. Re: How do you find out about future land releases? 9Nov 06, 2014 6:24 pm Whereabouts in the south east are you looking? We've got a 714m2 block in Cranbourne East - The Hunt Club. It's one of the smaller blocks that was released. They have one more release but not sure when and I'm sure most of those blocks are in excess of 700m2.
