Browse Forums Buying Land Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 102Jan 06, 2012 4:06 pm Hi Guys, Hope everyone had started to recover from the silly season!! Have just got the notice about Opticomm from the land office and it mentions that free to air tv & pay tv will not be available via the Opticomm Network at Casiana Grove, and that an external free to air (F2A) antenna will be required to receive F2A tv signals..... (as at 24 Nov) Opticomm fibre will only supply phone & internet.... We have paid the extra to get the house smartwired mainly for the tvs.... have we wasted our $$$$??? Dont really feel like paying this just for ph & internet ( really internet only as we use our mobiles for phone) What is everyone else in the estate doing.... ? Do you think that the tv might come on board in the future... however not really worth it if already got foxtel and tv antenna set up - we are not using the smart wiring for any other type of automation..... If we were to cancel the smartwiring can we still get phone and internet through the likes of Telstra/Optus etc??? Is there anyone else in the estate using Telstra/Optus - how is that going, who are you set up with? I work from home so would need a stable strong internet connection..... Really interested in your thoughts and to hear how others already living inthe estate are going with all of this? Thanks folks!!! Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 103Jan 12, 2012 9:19 pm NBN doesn't have Free to air either. Opticomm have FTA and Foxtel in other estates. Maybe we can all ring up/write to Opticomm and complain if this is true! Also I didnt get one of those letters. Which stage are you in? Saw someone dumped a fridge on one of the blocks on stage 6. How inconsiderate! Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 104Jan 18, 2012 2:32 pm Sorry have not logged on for some time. I asked the girl at Opticom if she can double check if the estate will have it down the track and this was the response: Quote: "I just heard back from my project manager who has advised, Casiana Grove installations does not and will not have the capacity to install FTA TV via the fibre network. I hope this helps you with all your needs, any further enquires please do not hesitate to call on 1300 137 800" We have pulled the plug on fibre and ended up adding some more downligfts/other electrics... Lucky we picked it up when we did as our electrical wiring started yesterday! We were given the letter when we popped into the land office to ask about Fibre, or else would not have known... Yes - we have noticed the fridge, we have also seen a couch and numerous other bins with household rubblish, and garden waste being filled by lazy, tight@arses (excuse the french - it really frustrates me!! what a cheek!!!).............Not good!... Oh well I believe strongly in karma, and what goes around comes around!!! Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 105Jan 18, 2012 10:24 pm Hi Guys, I've been to the area today and I saw fiber being laid down in Lemone Grove! No TV through the cable. This is for sure now. The same has been confirmed by Opticom management. Please make sure you TV points are wired not to the "smart box" but to the roof cavity! Where you can get the tips connected to an antenna or a dish. Wiring should be in the traditional copper. All potential neighbors, I will be sending my fence notices next week or something! Hurry up with your construction!! Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 106Jan 19, 2012 9:40 am nck123 Hi Guys, I've been to the area today and I saw fiber being laid down in Lemone Grove! Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 108Jan 22, 2012 3:06 pm just a couple of things for you guys ... smart wiring ... if you are going to do it, do it properly. the standard pack they give you is not worth your time. Data, TV & Telephone point to each bedroom is what you should be looking at. Some rooms requiring several data/tv points. Everything is starting to be, if not already, online, your tv, your computer, your laptop, av recievers, gamin systems and yes even fridges etc.. the options are endless for the digital age, and this wont get any less in the future, it will only incease. My current set up in the loungeroom requires a data point for ... my tv, my reciever, my blu-ray player, my foxtel box and my computer (media centre) Thats 5 data connections in the loungroom alone. My gaming room has a ps3, xbox, nintendo wii and a tv that all require data points, thats another 4 points!!! Thats 9 points in two rooms!! you get my point, If you are going to do it, seriously consider how you are going to use it, and consider all your appliances etc.. Its alot cheaper to put it in now, rather than retro fit your house, otherwise, give me the money you are going to spend on a smart wiring pack that isnt going to service your needs as i will make better use of the money by buying a surfboard or something. As for the fibre option ... take it, again, everything is online. I built in brookland greens (i wont go into what a disaster that turned out to be, for anyone stay clear of Peet) and i am not able to get any broadband connection without paying for expensive wireless broadband, and that is only for a max of 15GB a month, and again, so much is spent online these days, im currently looking at selling me place and moving, with broadband a very big reason as to why i want to move. take the fibre option, do your smart wiring correctly, and you wont regret it later on. im lookign at building a new place in casiana grove, which is why im in this thread, broadband, recycled water, sustainability are all very important to me and something that casiana grove provides. Im after something abit smaller than the current 30sq home i have now. Cranbourne, i think is fantastic. It is the best of both worlds. Casey Race is outstanding, 20 mins from the beach, 30 mins to the mountains (i go hiking in sheerbrooke forest every weekend) 40 mins from the city, 80 mins from the snow ... all cranbourne really needs is for Cranbourne Centro to be refrubished and redeveloped to handle its citizens and there is really nothing Cranbourne wants for. Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 110Apr 21, 2012 8:04 am Nice post Scott. Don't forget a lot of devices these days can do wireless as well. Eg my tv, ps3, iPad, laptops are all hooked up wirelessly to my router. Only some uses such as gaming are better on Ethernet but not everyone are interested them. I do agree data should be ran to as many rooms as possible too. Saves money down the track Has anyone in Casiana got there fibre activated yet and which isp did you go with? Plans? Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 111Apr 25, 2012 8:04 pm Hi Investa .. We are boycotting sighning up at the present time as it is too expensive i feel....$500 to opticomm then probably about another $100 to your chosen isp (exetel website).....uploads not counted Not to mention that it is only Ph and Internet ...at least in other estates it is cheaper and is also full service ... ie: TV and Foxtel Cheers neighbours.... Harley Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 113Apr 28, 2012 2:41 pm That was the price that was on the link that opticomm had supplied a while back sadly i no longer have it .... We already have our leadin as well as the breakout box for the ont on the side of the house ....So possibly it may be cheaper as it was done as part of our smart wiring .....might give them a call next week and ask them ,will keep you posted ....hope alls well with your build.. Harley Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 114May 03, 2012 5:20 pm Hi peeps, We move in next Friday so can't wait. I think a street BBQ is in order when we're all in and settled Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 115May 03, 2012 7:44 pm Sounds nice! There's a BBQ facility being installed at the park isn't? Did anyone watch Deal or No Deal tonight? That couple that was on is actually the neighbours two houses down from us! Lol Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 117May 04, 2012 7:24 am Well that's good news. You'll have to come over & see what the finish product looks like. I may even be able to offer you a drink if I am able to find anything in all the packing boxes LOL. Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 119May 08, 2012 2:44 pm Hi guys Anyone notice the sticker on one of the signs out front .?? "Recycled water AND Full service fibre : Have they finally come to the party like most other estates ..too late for us early settlers Cheers Harley Just got off the phone to opticomm and it is confirmed that we are getting full service fibre now ...so dont spend the extra for an antenna...but as i mentioned in another post the fee is still $550,which is fine if you havent already got an antenna ....sigh Re: Cranbourne West -Casiana Grove 120May 08, 2012 4:06 pm Hey squirrel81 what about an estate BBQ when the park is open ..much nicer than a street bbq .. and still quite small lol Hi I live in a 100yr old semi and my neighbour added an additional floor last yr and our architect has advised that we can knock down our semi and build a free-standing… 0 37681 Hi All It has been a few weeks since my last update.
