Browse Forums Buying Land 1 Feb 12, 2022 9:29 am I am considering buying a block of land to do a rebuild on it where the current vendor has already knocked down/demolished the old house on it. From my investigation (Google), I have discovered that he bought the property in 2018 and then he obtained building permits for it in January 2021 and has knocked down the old property on it already now, but for whatever reason he didn’t go ahead and is now putting the empty land up for sale. So I was thinking - if I buy this block I can go ahead to build my house on it (STCA) without doing the demolition which would save me money and time. Have anyone else bought vacant land before to do a new build on it? What things should I be aware of or to look out for - as opposed to if I were to buy a property with an existing old house and do a knockdown/rebuild? Thanks. Just check again why the owner didn't build after demolition. Is it because of his own financial situation? There is a difference between building a house and building a nice house. Get someone to have a look at the land compared to council planning and building regulations. Maybe the owner realised that the land has some kind of restrictions for building a house? if the original house is in good condition most of what you listed could be added in stages without the need for KDR and costs and disruption of having to live elsewhere… 1 13802 Yeah I don't know why I came to a forum.
