Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Jul 26, 2020 12:00 pm I am building a pool as part of a new build but due to a slight slope in the backyard, one side of the pool (1m away from boundary fence) has been raised by about 20cm. The boundary fence on that side is only 2yrs old (pine wood fence) and I was wondering if extending the height with a lattice would still keep it legal? Or are there any other cost executive and compliant ways to increase the height by about 20cm? The fence is 1.8m from current ground level but only 1.6m from pool finish level. Lattice can’t be used as it is deemed climbable. A easy and cheap way is if you do have the rails on your side is to fit new 1.8 pairings to your side . We are doing this in pic attached Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Is fence extension legal around the pool? 4Jul 26, 2020 8:53 pm Boro Unfortunately the pailings are on my side. I wander is removing the pailings, putting a sleeper at the bottom, and re-nailing the pailings back is an option? Re: Is fence extension legal around the pool? 5Aug 01, 2020 12:19 pm The other suggestion is to call your shire inspector. They are the ones tgat will sign off on everything. If you do it now as its being done may save you heaps of heartache. Our final pool height and hence the paving was "only" 0.5cm higher . When they came to certify everything they pinged us for the boundary fence being 0.5cm below the 1.80m height. It ended up costing us $300 to get that area of the fence fixed. They can be THAT pedantic. (Melville, Western Australia) Thanks again Simeon for being so elaborate. Appreciate it. Its gives us a very idea.
