Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Sep 30, 2019 3:27 pm Hi, Quick question when cleaning my pool last week I noticed a small mark at the shallow end of the pool directly in the middle and just under the lip of the pool. It caught my eye as it was whiter in appearance than the rest of the pool. When I put my arm in and rubbed it there is a small indent maybe the size of a 20c piece and maybe 1mm in depth. On the weekend in different lighting I was able to make out the same mark on every side of the pool in the centre of each wall. They are are deeper than the shallow end but all look about the same size and are whiter than the rest of the pool. The question I have is are these manufacturing marks? I believe they must have something to do with the manufacturing process given they are in the centre of each wall but I had not seen them in the past. I have asked the installer about this and they have passed my question on to the manufacturer but said without water tests and photos they will not be able to give any answers. I recently had to chlorine shock my pool as I had filter issues and got a small amount of algae, could this have affected the coating? The last pool water test showed free chlorine level of 12.19 and total chlorine of 13.68 but they said not to worry and it would come down on its own. I also had to add some alkalinity up but mixed this in a bucket and put in the pool while filter was running along with some acid to bring down PH levels. Any advise would be appreciated. Kind Regards, David Hi David, My pool has the same indent in the middle of every pool wall. I would say this is done during the manufacturing process as it very precise. I would call SPASA and ask them if at all concerned. Just watch your PH & chlorine levels as only after a few years my gel coat has already started to oxidize or if unsure check if you pool walls feel chalky...this maybe the start of a few things. I am working to engage SPASA about lodging a claim but I am yet to find a successful claim against a pool shell manufacturer, with a problem which is quite consistent in my opinion.
