Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Aug 25, 2019 6:26 am Hi all I have had a couple of quotes from concrete pool builders. One has said that a pool cannot be close than 1.5m to the house unless the house is piered. The other has said 1.2m was fine as our pool depth is 1.2m at that spot. I don't want this pool builder to be just saying things to make me happy then my house cave in. The second pool builder the pool will be close to an alfresco area that has three posts that hold up the roof. One post will be 1.5m from the pool, one is 1.2m but pool is only 50cm deep at that spot and one is 1.2m where the pool will be 1.2m deep. What is the real distance they can dig from the verandah? Thanks Re: How close can a pool be to a house? 2Aug 25, 2019 7:58 am The simple rule is depth of excavation needs to be same distance . If concrete on veranda is 100mm thick and pool is excavation is 1m close to verandah pool can be 900mm away . If pool is 2m deep it would be 1.9 away . It is different calc if your soil is sand . Most house footings are 300-450 deep so calculation is from bottom of footing . Cheers Andrew Re: How close can a pool be to a house? 3Aug 25, 2019 8:30 am wheeliworks The simple rule is depth of excavation needs to be same distance .
