Pools & Spas

I'm hoping someone can help identify these little things i find each morning in my pool. There's usually about 50-100 of them every day. They are about 10mm to 20mm in length. They have the shape of a spring when in the water but flatten out completely when taken out of the water. It kind of looks like something under a microscope but the photo is taken of the floaters in a bucket.
They tend to cling to the side of the pool, at the water line. If I don't collect them before the filters come on, they seems to get smeared along the water line and look like a black slime/sludge.
