Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Feb 21, 2018 9:35 pm Hi, Short Version: Is a fully compliant permanent pool fence required for an inground empty pool, in order to get a house COO? Long Version: We're building a new house, and pool at the same time. The house and pool are under different builders and permits. We want to get a certificate of occupancy and complete the house, but the pool is a way off completion. We realise we have to have a fence to stop people falling into the empty pool (still under construction). Are we able to use a construction type temporary fence? If not, are we able to rent a pool compliant temporary fence? Or are we required to have a full, permanent installed fence? We are in Victoria. Cheers + thanks, Sxwallac. Re: Pool fence requirements for COO (not for filling) 2Jul 07, 2018 5:36 pm Hi SXwallac. You can get a temp fence converted into a temp pool fence.... depending on what current temp fence type you currently have. If you've got those 6ft Mesh panels... you'll have to change them. Re: Pool fence requirements for COO (not for filling) 3Jul 16, 2018 7:24 pm Thanks Guys. We rented a temporary pool fence to be safe. We got the COO no problem (although that doesn't necessarily mean that it was all good: we just didn't get pulled up for it). It did cost us a few hundred bucks, but at least it didn't delay the house COO. Cheers, Scott. DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair But if it is a ground level open pit, then it is not a charged system.
