Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Feb 01, 2018 7:19 pm Hey guys looking at putting a pool in on our new block which will have developer installed retaining walls along the boundary. How close to the footings can a fibreglass pool be installed? Will it compromise the strength of the wall? Re: Pools and existing retaining walls. 2Feb 01, 2018 9:16 pm It really needs an engineer to check it as when the pool is empty you are in effect adding the load of the retaining wall onto the side of the pool as the strength will be compromised. If it was me, at a first guess I would be looking for something around twice the pools depth as the distance from the pool edge to the wall for a GRP pool. A concrete pool could probably be designed to be closer. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Pools and existing retaining walls. 3Feb 01, 2018 9:42 pm Unfortunately with these new subdivisions and the size blocks they have we have very little room in the back yard so the pool will be 1m from the boundary, even closer to the retaining wall footings. Hopefully this is achievable with a concrete pool Re: Pools and existing retaining walls. 4Feb 09, 2018 6:04 pm You need a professional to assess .
