Browse Forums Pools & Spas Re: my pool 4Aug 21, 2008 9:36 am Paula, as long as they are part of the swimming pool assosciation( I think in Melbourne its called Spasavic )you should be fine. Its the ones that are not part of this that you can get into trouble with.
We had probs with a very reputable pool company here in WA and we were able to get everything sorted out through arbitration(not sure if the right spelling) with spasawa and they were fantastic. Oh and everything we discussed we made the pool comapny discuss as an email so we had written proof of everything they said and promised... This helped when there were any issues re dates of payments etc. Could be a very different business in the East as Pool companies here seemed to be just overloaded with work and way to many chiefs and not enough indians. Re: my pool 7Aug 25, 2008 9:34 pm OK, our new next door neighbour is a pool excavator!!!!
He has given us some valuable advise on what to look for and gave us the names of 2 pool companies that he would use himself. One is coming out tomorrow Will update later. Paula Re: my pool 8Aug 25, 2008 9:40 pm Paula if you want to save some money on pool pumps, chlorinators etc, let me know, DH works at Hurlcon/Astral pools.
They don't build them, they just manufacture the pump/filtration equipment. When you have some specs, if you want to, send me a PM and i'll get you a price. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: my pool 11Aug 25, 2008 9:50 pm He also tells me that they do heaters, waterfalls (oooh some nice LED ones being developed atm too) and the accessories are available too...
He is going ask for some names of reputable builders in the industry...he wants to know if you are going for concrete or an fibreglass insert pool? He will ask at work and try to get some good contacts for you. They do everything except for the pool itself....but sadly i'm not allowed the lap pool that i want.... Re: my pool 12Aug 25, 2008 9:54 pm Thanks P, We want a concrete pool, as I want a particular shape and they dont have them in fibreglass.( I think I have already blown the budget just thinking about it )
I know nothing about pools or equipment so any advise is welcome. Keep pushing for the lap pool - eventually you will wear him down Paula Re: my pool 13Oct 27, 2008 1:11 am Oooh, I've been researching pools too. We'll be getting one... eventually (!)
When the time comes, I'm interested in the Magnapool / Magnablu system (an updated magnesium version of the salt system), with an Anti-Bio sanitiser backup for water purity in the warmer months when the chlorine can be killed with the UV (although I guess I'd keep both units switched on all year around). The Anti-Bio system uses soundwaves, and requires no maintenance AFAIK. It's also pretty good value for money, costs $990 for a unit to handle 70,000L! I'd love to hear some comments from more experienced pool people on these two new systems! I'm planning to buy the Anti-Bio through Ecomanage. http://www.magnapool.com/ http://www.antibio.com.au/ http://www.ecomanage.com.au/ 'And then a plank in reason broke...'
