Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Mar 01, 2016 8:23 am Hello, We are planning a knock down rebuild of our fibro home. The home we have decided on comes in a bit under our budget, so we are considering getting a pool in our construction loan. Our house needs to be raised, which means our alfresco area will be around 1.3m off the ground, so we would probably look at extending the Alfresco but running decking out around a pool etc. Some of the fiberglass pools have a 1.2 shallow end to a 1.7 deep end we like, so the shallow end would sit near ground level. Has anyone had a pool similar to this done that can share their experience?? Getting the pool isnt a definite at the moment, still trying to convince the wife :p~ Re: Any above ground pool experience 2Mar 01, 2016 8:58 am What size pool are you looking at . Up to 7x 3.5 above ground fibreglass works well . When going bigger there is a very big increase in cost . I've attached a few pictures of some above ground fibreglass pools We have built . Re: Any above ground pool experience 4Mar 01, 2016 7:59 pm If the pool is 1.3 out of ground it generally dosnt need any piers . The deep end will sit on a sand base & will have a concrete beam at ground level . Then gal braces are fitted . We are lifting one in tomorrow at 1.3 out of ground . I will post some pics as I get them . Re: Any above ground pool experience 8Mar 02, 2016 8:04 pm Hi wheelieworks. What is the cost difference between the above ground version as pictured above & the fully in ground version? (As a rough guide) KDR Under the Flight Path - Dennis Family Homes (Hawkesdale) Re: Any above ground pool experience 9Mar 02, 2016 8:35 pm It is a how long is a piece of string question . Typically we install on difficult sites . On this site if we were putting it in the ground the it would be around $3000 less . They are best suited to steep & sloping blocks , where a hi end look is required but excavation is very difficult . On a supply side a 4m pool is a additional $4000 & a 7m around $7000. We fitted one last week in a land slip zone on a steep site . The piers & base came in around $13000. A I ground pool wasn't a option . The slab below has piers up to 4m deep . Re: Any above ground pool experience 15Jun 21, 2016 8:56 pm The shell support varies depending on depth out of ground . We always use concrete . Either a ring beam at ground level around base or a full slab underneath . It depends on height of pool , ground stability , & zone of influence factors . If pool is more than 800mm out of ground we use some galvanised side support braces to keep side walls straight The pool below is 1.3m above ground . It has 2 gal braces on each wall . In the picture it is framed up ready for blue board & tiles . Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is where it is up to at the moment . Re: Any above ground pool experience 17Jun 21, 2016 10:47 pm Generally a installed pool with premium equipment is $26-$40,000 Then landscaping & fencing on top of that . Sizing from 3x1.7m -7x3.5m .
