Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Jul 17, 2008 10:24 pm Hi there,
We are going to demolish our existing home and rebuild a dbl storey home. We have an in-ground swimming pool that we will be keeping, and renovating after the new house has been built. The new house will come to within 3 or 4 metres of the pool. We have been told that we need to remove the swimming pool fence and cover the pool with boards and corrugated iron? If anyone has had to do this before I would like to hear how things went? Was it expensive to cover the pool? Did the pool get emptied before hand? Is this something I can do myself or does it need to be professionally done to avoid any legal implications? Thanks in Advance David (first post!!!) Re: Covering/Emptying the swimming pool during new home rebuild 2Jul 17, 2008 10:38 pm Firstly welcome kangabat
When we were looking at building a pool and house at the same time, we were told that we would have to have a sleeper hole - meaning that when the pool was dug, it would have to be covered with sleepers for saftey, until such time as it was no longer an issue. Sorry not much help am I? Here is the link on how to post pics if you are interested - we love them here. http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=3466 Paula Re: Covering/Emptying the swimming pool during new home rebuild 3Jul 17, 2008 10:53 pm Thanks Paula,
that was lightning fast!!! Sounds like the pool definitely has to be covered. Sleepers would do the job!! I will keep that in mind. I will post pics, ta... Cheers David Re: Covering/Emptying the swimming pool during new home rebuild 6Jul 18, 2008 2:44 pm Is your pool concrete or fiber glass? I'd ring your local pool place and ask them before emptying it. My worry is that construction is going to be close to your pool which could lead to earth moving and your pool popping out since it doesn't have the pressure of the water to keep it in.
We empty ours Re: Covering/Emptying the swimming pool during new home rebuild 7Jul 18, 2008 3:04 pm Hi Fiona,
Thanks for the advice. The pool is concrete. Will it still "pop out" if emptied. I thought it may crack? Cheers David The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place. The agents weren't happy… 2 4165 got it. thanks. I was looking for word ' Adobe' and added filter. all good. 12 14380 |
