Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Aug 07, 2015 5:10 pm We're going to install a fibreglass pool ~7x3m. I am under the impression that simple rectangular pools are the more modern look these days, and perhaps kidney shaped etc might be less popular (happy to be corrected though!). We can get a good price on this shaped pool from Riverina pools (its a rectangle, but with the steps in a semi-circle at the shallow end, if that mass sense). Any thoughts from those with more style sense than I on whether this shape might look a bit dated? We can get a simple rectangle pool for $2k more. http://www.riverinapools.com.au/upl/web ... pen210.png Re: Are rectangular pools the way to go? 3Aug 07, 2015 9:45 pm Oh wow, that's a big bias towards square lines! Thanks wheelieworks. It's a shame - the company with the curved pool we were looking at doesn't have the same size in a plain rectangle, but wins on price, and I can't find a bad review online for them no matter how hard I try! Re: Are rectangular pools the way to go? 4Aug 09, 2015 11:11 pm Hi MJ great question. We are liking the sirocco by riverina, because of the layout of the bench and steps, and the curve is making me thjnk twice too. Maybe we will revisit the adriatic instead... but then we are not planning on moving anytime soo so what does it matter? Arrgh total first world problem! Recently moved to a 60's home in need of some improvement! http://s797.photobucket.com/user/leenii ... ch%20House Old house: http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy25 ... loo/House/ Re: Are rectangular pools the way to go? 5Aug 10, 2015 8:35 pm If you are planning on living in your house for a long time then go for the style that you like best. I personally like straight lines and symmetry/structure in design. If I were building a tropical themed landscape then kidney shape would be the obvious option. I like the wide steps on the curvey ones too - they make a lot of sense. We ended up getting a quote on the Grenada from Riverina, but sadly, it won't quite fit in our space I would much prefer to go with Riverina as they seem to be a good company (I can't find any bad reviews on them!) and I don't think we would be sprung with as many 'unexpected' costs as with some of their competitors, but sadly not one of their pool shape/sizes is quite right for our backyard - and I'm still not 100% convinced about getting non-square edged pool! hehe first world problem indeed Re: Are rectangular pools the way to go? 9Sep 16, 2015 4:31 pm Hi *MJ*, There is no doubt how great pools are great especially during summer. Our neighbor had a pretty decent size backyard (We live in Canberra and the block size were pretty decent till lately) with a pool. Their kids had moved out and they got an outdoor spa instead of a Pool and certainly it is something I would be doing for my next property. They got there spa from http://www.spasolutions.com.au , I have got them bookmarked as the neighbors gave good reviews about them. My 2 cents. Thanks batman trilogy We're actually selling the spa that is here to make room for the pool haha! With two kids and another on the way, we've got a loooong way to go before we're empty nesters - then we'll move! We had a pool at our last place and it was used daily in summer, but we've found we just haven't used the spa.
