Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Jul 30, 2015 2:47 pm We hoped to start our pool in May, for summer swimming, but we got delayed with our access path. It looks like it is going to be dug out next week. I am happy to post about the process for anyone else who is interested. If we start now, what's a realistic timeframe to plan on the first jump in the pool? Re: Our pool is starting 2Jul 30, 2015 10:37 pm Hi Numpty, are you going for a concrete or fibreglass pool. Fibreglass can be ready to swim in less than a week after the shell goes in. If you want all the landscaping done it will take longer - but well & truly within a month. Re: Our pool is starting 4Aug 04, 2015 9:50 am I had an interesting day yesterday. The peg out guy hadn't done the report and I was trying to get the report before the dig, of course. He went into a tirade of abuse and f bombs at my husband because we were chasing it up. Apparently, he has 50 people working for him and he can't possibly be expected to know where it's at! What an interesting way to deal with customers. Anyway, we got that done and I hope that's all behind us. We hired Paul from xzibit pools to do the pool construction and he has been great so far. This morning he turned up right on time as promised and they are currently digging it out. Today is a very expensive day!!! Glad to hear that you are happy with the guy running the project. We are building a pool in Adelaide and waiting for approval from the council. We submitting in early June and now have planning approval and just waiting for the building approval now. It is really wet here at the moment and our site is clay so we will need to wait for block to dry out first. We had issues with our digout which meant that we need to have extra steel and piering. The additional costs are astronomical and when that happens, you're at the mercy of the builder, with no idea if the numbers are reasonable or not. I don't want to think about the pool and I've drawn the blinds so I don't have to look at it. Ugh. I hope yours goes much more smoothly. Hi everyone, Looking for some advise.
