Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Feb 25, 2015 5:17 pm Ok this is coming purely from a greed point of view. What pool holds up best in value on a house - Concrete or Fibreglass. I know the argument it can add 5% but more people wont be interested in pools so you will miss those buyers etc... Looks like I am getting a pool whether I like it or not. We are doing a Knockdown Rebuild in Melbourne and adding a pool. I was always looking at concrete from a better constructed lasts longer point of view but I am now leaning (practically falling) into the Fibreglass mindset. Easier to maintain can get the build done a little less hasslefree than concrete. We would need to wait another season to use a concrete one just due to property handover etc. So not after the usual arguments about what is better concrete or FG in general. Rather I wanted to know from a valuation point of view do buyers typically look the same way at FG or Concrete when purchasing a new house. Any valuers or Realestate agents have any thoughts on this? Re: any realestaste agents around? whats better concrete or 2Feb 26, 2015 9:46 pm I am an Ex realestate agent and my opinion is such.
A Pool DOES NOT add any value to a property for sale. A pool actually halves the market share of people that want to buy your home. A pool is a lifestyle. A pool is a choice that I have made knowing the above $$$$ decicion. A fiberglass pool is OK but a concrete pool shows "Class" shows "$$$$$" I know of many families with a fiberglass pool I dont know of any famous rich people with a fiberglass pool. If you have the dollar$ than you get a tiled concrete pool. Simple as that. Does it add value? No Does it make your home sell quicker? Yes Just like Alloy wheels on a car DO NOT make a car worth any more, you will sell it quicker. I am in the process of installing a concrete pool, knowing it wont add any value. It is a lifestyle choice. Feel free to follow my post here.>>>>>> viewtopic.php?f=65&t=73509 Good luck! Andrew Re: any realestaste agents around? whats better concrete or 3Feb 27, 2015 6:14 am OK this is what I need to hear. We aren't going cheap in the house so don't want to with the pool and outside. I haven't had a pool before so the general consensus would be when you go to a house with a pool is "oh that pool looks good but hmm its a fibreglass" Re: any realestaste agents around? whats better concrete or 4Mar 04, 2015 2:12 pm OK you have convinced me to go concrete. Thanks. Think I am spending more time on pool research than the actual new build research of our house. One more thing then. I am looking at infloor cleaning vs full interior tiling. What do you think from an end user perspective? Luxury look or maintenance *free*? PS. Watching your pool post - thanks for keeping us in the loop. I am a first time pool owner / builder too and have been told the following by multiple people A tiled pool looks the best. It is no longer as expensive to completely tile a pool as it used to be in the old days. In floor cleaning - a waste of money. I was told by one pool installer, why would you want to add more holes in your pool to potentially leak in the future. There are dead spots that do not move the dirt and every few years you need to service the pop up cleaners and solinoids that lift these in floor cleaners. Today's pool robots (Not the creepy crawly type that run off your pool pump sucktion system) do a real good job in keeping the pool maintenance low. Invest in one of them. Good Luck! Grab a hose, insert it at the top of the inlet/down pipe and turn the water on and see where the water is escaping from. I have pits all along my path, so the water tends to drain away from the house and into the pits. There's only one… 7 12716 |
