Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Feb 13, 2015 7:04 pm Hi, We're currently in the process of organising quotes for the installation of a new swimming pool and will make our final decision and purchase once we've visited the Pool Spa & Outdoor Living Expo 7th & 8th of March 2015, as there will no doubt be package deals offered by various pool companies. A salesperson from Barrier Reef Pools was supposed to get back to me to organise and come out for a quote but haven't heard back from him, that was a week ago. I had organised an appointment for someone to come out from Palm City Pools. Never showed up and never heard from him again to say he wasn't coming. Unreliable and off my list. What is it with these pool companies, not interested in people's business. We have narrowed down our search to a packaged deal for a fibreglass Jamaican 9.5m x 4.3m 1.1m-1.95m (~62k litres) or the exact smaller version the Tahitian 8m x 4.3m 1.1m-1.75m from Freedom Pools. A friend of mine has used Freedom Pools previously and was happy with them. We will also be adding Freedom's clip-on spa to either of these pools and may also incorporate a water feature, some extra jets in the pool at a later date so will likely need a fairly decent pump and sand filter. Whilst the company offers standard Astral equipment with their package, we will more than likely be upgrading the pool pump, filter, controller and cleaner. What do people usually recommend as a combination for a pump, filter, Controller and pool cleaner? Freedom offer upgrades to their Viron range for their pump and EQ AI 25 chlorinator. I've been reading various stories about the Zodiac Tri and Viron's EQ AI, lots of dislikes and problems. My last pool I had a Poolrite D8000 Sand Filter with diamond glass media and a Chemigem DM55 Controller. Always worked and never really had a problem with it apart from checking drum levels. This time 'round I'm looking at the following: Pump: Viron P600 Multispeed Pump or Waterco Supatuff 200 Controller: Chemigem D10 Sand Filter: Haven't found any to list. Recommendations? Cleaner: Zodiac G2. Recommendations Will also need to look into getting a controller and pump/heater for the spa, running separate to the pool equipment. I'd love to put in a pool heater but as an option later so will need to factor this in. Not going to do Solar. Will either be gas or heat pump. Company also offers a sprinta or K-Bot RX1 Robotic Pool Cleaners but also read bad things about these. The Rx1 is heavy and awkard to remove from the pool from the reviews I've read. We will be using Fremantle Stone for the headers and paving around the pool. Freedom do offer the option of install headers and paving using Fremantle Stone around the pool but for the price they charge I'd be better off ordering all my headers and pavers and booking in a contractor to install it all. Can anyone recommend a paving contractor in Perth that also specializes in installing headers around the pool? I could get the Pool company to install just the headers considering some of the issues people are having using a contractor that does not use the proper glue/cement when installing the headers and then later on they start falling off. We will use Consolidated Enterprises for pencil compaction prior to the pavers being laid. We also have approximately 13m of frameless fencing to install and so far Sunline (http://www.sunlinewa.com.au) and WA Pool Fencing (http://www.wapoolfencing.com.au/) in mind. Anyone have approximately prices per sqm to install supply and install? We will also be installing a 4.5m x 4.5m-6m African Hut near the pool. So far we have Cool Thatch and Mr Thatch as options. If anyone has any other tips or do's and dont's to look out for would be great. Will anyone else be going to the Pool Spa & Outdoor Living Expo 7th & 8th of March 2015 with the intention of buying a pool? Your help and advice appreciated. Cheers Re: New Pool and spa Installation - Perth 2Mar 05, 2015 12:10 am Hi Pasadena. I'd really like to go to the pool exhibition as like you, I'm going to install a pool now that the house is built. I hope you keep the posts coming regarding your install and if possible relay some of the main costings. Unfortunately I've found out after putting down my soakwells here in the Peel region that I'm in for some serious lime stone breaking. Costs just went up. I'm unsure who to go with and word of mouth is often the best way to go so i'll watch your blog with interest.
