Saint Mike.....ph falls due to the Total Alkilinity (TA)of the pool being out of wack, usually it's too low. TA is a measure of the carbonates in the water. A pool needs to be slightly carbonated (fizzy) to hold stable Ph. If it's too low the Ph fluctuates easily. TA falls when water is aerated, so splashing, bombing, heavy rainfall etc will all cause TA to drop. TA is corrected by adding Buffer to the pool water.
