I had to fill this gap in as I excavated the hole too large. Should have been only 3.5m wide but I made it 4m. I had to shore it up and then once the concrete pour was complete I had to fill it in with clean clean dirt. I then flooded it with the garden hose to make it compact like quick sand and then do it over and over again till it was fully filled.

The engineer drawings specified a footing that was 300mm wide and 400mm deep with 4 x Reo Rods of N16 in size.
