Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Sep 09, 2014 11:14 am Hi everyone, Am seeking some assistance with my swimming pool leak! The level is down by a third, about to call these guys http://www.propoolleakdetectionservices.com.au/ to come have a look. Not sure whether it is a plumbing issue (pump system + solar heating pump) or whether it is a structural problem. The pool is I ground, but only buried half deep with a concrete brick wall. I've had these cracks in the wall for a while, and something's crystallised on the crack. Tasted it and it doesn't taste like salt (salt water pool). Anyone seen something like this before? Concrete pools do have the same issues as fibre glass - I believe - with movement. If its half out of the ground would this exacerbate the problem - ie with pressure underneath ? I'm no expert but it looks to be peeling off ? I'd be getting a few "experts" to look at it. They may be able to fix and coat somehow ? BUT ... 3 quotes Re: Swimming pool leak 3Sep 10, 2014 8:40 am Have you checked your solar heating pipes and solar collector matting on the roof for any leaks? The twist connections on the roof piping can come loose through movement of the roof and building structure, causing leaks. Re: Swimming pool leak 4Sep 12, 2014 6:46 am The crystallization (white build up) is a type of efflorescence...most likely calcium chloride, a conversion of calcium hydroxide in the mortar, and oxygen...occurs when there is fluid movement... Easiest fix is to use a super flexible grout to pack a scoured crack (cut the crack out with diamond blade 4-5mm deep) or similar. Proper fix would involve injection and $$$ Depending on where you are we can supply you material like flex grout or labor as well...contact via www.pacificpools.net.au The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place.
