Browse Forums Pools & Spas Re: Pool quote 15Jun 12, 2014 6:28 pm wheeliworks WizardofOz Apologies to Blackenator for hijacking the post.... Well, we STILL haven't kicked off with the pool. We have just been hit with a $10.5k bill for the engineer/piering/additional steel/pump and concrete. We are still deciding if we will go ahead or not. This is, according to the engineer, to pier and reinforce the pool. Fair enough too, and maybe we are incredibly naïve, but we are shocked at the added cost as we weren't expecting it to blow out that much. We even changed the design of the pool so that it didn't sit as close to the zone of influence, it is close to house and fenceline, but the pool builder knew this going in, actually it was an empty block when we signed with them This is part of the costs: Piering - allowance of 10lm .450mm diameter @ 350/lm - this seems massively expensive compared to the cost of the piering for our house! Again, am I being naïve? Any feedback appreciated..... Hi oz Unfortunately you signed a contract which basically lets them charge you as much as they want as often as they want. Unfortunately this will be the start of what is to come . Do the sums before you pull out but it is common this is the first of many additions. You have no chance of getting back any money's paid & you will be threatened with legal action if you don't proceed. There is a statutory. Get out clause in the contract which will give you a get out. Thanks wheeliworks, thought as much. At this stage we want more information from the pool builder before we make a decision, but it comes down to if we don't go ahead I doubt very much if we will bother with a pool (from any builder) or we suck it up, go ahead and hope that these extra costs are the last. Wiz Built @ Brooks Reach Built the Verdelho Guest with Beechwood hey there! 😊 so, it’s kinda common for standard drawer depths to be around 500mm since most cabinets use this size to fit the usual runners… 3 20890 I was being kind to the builder. With the amount charged for the upgrade the builder is probably charging closer to 100% margin. There are a few variables as I… 5 14303 I had 28m2 of engineered pavers laid six months back and it was difficult to find someone not taking the pi$$. Internet suggested it should be $85-100/m2 to lay them.… 3 12357 |
