Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Sep 10, 2013 11:54 am Hi everyone, couple of questions regarding pool paving. I want to go with DIY poured limestone around a salt chlorine pool. Does anybody know for certain if it will stand up to the salt and chorine in the water and won't fret or crumble from effervescence? Also, I intend to grade the paving with a slight fall towards the pool, does anyone have a reason not to do this? I assume most paving is graded away from pools to keep out dirt and to stop overflow in heavy rain, but I can keep the pool clean with pool equipment and pump away excess water to waste. Also, when gluing coping pavers to a fiberglass pool lip what is the preparation and product to use for the best results? cheers Re: Poured limestone V salt and chlorine, and paving grading 2Sep 11, 2013 7:20 pm when sticking tile/stone to the fiberglass use ardex optima glue. We have worked around heaps of pools with limestone...not a problem if sealed. Re: Poured limestone V salt and chlorine, and paving grading 3Sep 12, 2013 12:23 pm Thanks da_cleaner. Do you have any thoughts about grading drainage back to the pool? Could only help the paving I would think, keep the water off it more. I think I will pour a test block and leave it next to the pool and splash it with pool water regularly, see how it holds up. Re: Poured limestone V salt and chlorine, and paving grading 4Sep 12, 2013 12:34 pm Next question - If I already have brick paving around the pool, and then a ~40mm step up to the fiberglass pool lip, and then glue a 40mm coping paver to the pool lip, this will leave a ~80mm step up from brick pavers to the back of the coping tile. What do posters think about leaving the brick paving in situ and then pouring my limestone over the brick paving to the level of the top of back of coping? As my grade is falling towards the pool the poured limestone will only get thicker the further it is away from the pool edge. The pool has been in for many years and I will remove and reset any sunken brick pavers or backfill and compact such an area before the pour. Hello needing some advice.
