Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Dec 10, 2010 12:31 am Hi All, I thought I would share our pool building experience. We have a sloping block so decided to build a concrete pool with 3 sides out of the ground rather than a fibreglass pool with a retaining wall. We did get quite a few quotes for the pool, and decided to go with the company that we had the best feel about. They weren't the cheapest but everything so far has gone really well and all of the workers have been fantastic. After a very long 8 week wait for council approval our pool started last week. We have had someone here working every day, and the pool has come together quicker than we thought it would. We are now waiting for the electrician who is coming on Monday, and hopefully next week the headers and the tiles will be done. We are not sure that it will be finished by Christmas, but are keeping our fingers crossed. Here are some photos of the progress. the site before Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The digging, thankfully no rocks found! It would be hard to unglue me from that porch and chase me out of the pool once it's finished How far is the pool wall from the porch? I noticed several wavy sheets inside the formwork - did they place them there on purpose and why? (just out of interest ) My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Our Pool Building Experience 4Dec 10, 2010 10:17 am Thanks cmooring and lex. The wavy sheets are used where the wall is underground I think, they only used the flat sheets where the walls can be seen. Sonya Re: Our Pool Building Experience 5Dec 10, 2010 12:35 pm Just out of interest, what suburb of Perth is that? I am guessing somewhere out in the hills. I'm hoping that is a National Park at the boundary of your property. It'd be fantastic to be able to have that view forever. Once again, GREAT place. Re: Our Pool Building Experience 6Dec 10, 2010 12:55 pm We're in Jarrahdale. The bush you can see is national park. At the side is public open space and a winery is behind that so hopefully the view should stay as it is. It is what sold the block to us. Sonya Re: Our Pool Building Experience 8Dec 17, 2010 10:29 am We have had the tiling and granite headers done this week. We are really happy with how the pool is taking shape. It doesn't look like it will be finished for christmas though, the plastering looks like it will be January, maybe before christmas if they get time, and we have to get paving and decking done so we can get the fence put up. It was finished at the end of last week. We managed to get the paving and decking done before Christmas but nothing else. The pool company returned to work on Jan 10th so the pool was finished in that week. The fence was delayed so that is being finished at the moment. The pool company have been fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and any problems we have had have been addressed immediately. I would highly recomend them. I have added some pics, will post some finished ones soon.
