Browse Forums Pools & Spas Re: Scale on pool? 2Apr 24, 2013 2:40 pm Something easy to try Let the waterlevel drop a bit (or do a backwash to slightly lower it away from the scum line) Try 30% Hydrochloric acid mixed with water (say 300mL to 700mL water (wear kitchen rubber gloves) and a non scratch sponge (blue) apply acid to dry scum mark and it should fizz - wet about 1m with the acid and then give it a scrub - work your way to the next metre - be sure to just wash up pool water to rinse the acid after you have scrubbed. You could try a green scourer or scrubber - just be sure to look to check you are not causing any damage. If little effect you can add acid to the mix to beef it up (i would probably just do 50/50 but would rather use only what you need) dont tip the remaining acid water in the pool as it will mess the pH up. If the offending calcium scum has been there for a long time - it may not be too effective... but worth a shot Re: Scale on pool? 3Apr 24, 2013 3:58 pm Thankyou so much for that advice!!
