Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Feb 28, 2013 11:37 pm We are building a swimming pool before we start building a house. The pool company have just applied for a building permit, but have advised me that I need to speak to the council about the fence (Joondalup, WA). The council have advised me that I need to apply for a Building Permit for the fence before they will even look at the pool application. We haven't even thought about pool fences yet (as we are preparing for pre start) so haven't decided if we are having metal or glass. I don't want to rush into a decision because of an permit. The metal / glass fence will only cover 2 sides of the pool, so would we have to include the boundary fence's (again not decided on) as the other 2 sites. I am struggling to get help from the council. We will be getting temporary fencing during the build but the council have said I don't need to mention this. Both myself and the pool company can't understand why this can't be added to the pool application. Re: Pool Fence Building Permit 2Mar 01, 2013 6:26 am with our pool fencing we were also looking at options and a suggestion that came to us and what would work perfectly for us is colorbond fence for the boundary then the fence facing the house to have glass with no gate (this cut down on the cost of glass fencing) at one side ( the other side is boundary fence colorbond) we are having black pool fencing with a gate. we were lucky and picked up panels of black pool fencing for $200 so the glass and installation posts, gate etc for the black pool fencing all up will cost $4000 approx. this glass is 11m and other side is 11m. alot of councils are different our council did not require a extra permit for fencing we are in NSW. Re: Pool Fence Building Permit 3Mar 01, 2013 7:13 pm Just indicate on the plan where the fence is going, it complies with as1926-1 , and gate opens out wards . If they want to know the type give them any compliant fence . It doesn't matter as long as it is compliant at final inspection No, not yet. It’s currently being assessed by our building surveyor 4 5503 Looking to start the journey of becoming an owner builder in SA.
