We have an old concrete pool - 7m x 10m. I am totally over having a pool - and most especially since our boys rarely use it now. The surface of the pool is lifting and whilst it doesnt leak, I think I would like to remove it. I am sick and tired of maintaining it and lugging in salt bags and scrubbing down the walls to get the algae off. I know that we have to apply to the council to pump the water out and then presumably have it jackhammered and most of the concrete removed. Then we would have to have filled with sand a perhaps a metre of soil on the top. Is it easy enough to organise this myself? Where would I find someone to smash up the pool - and presumably I would need to hire labourers to move the bought sand from where it will be dumped in the front yard - into the back yard to fill in the hole. Where is the best place to find labourers? We have a one story home and the re is a 1.1m gap either side of the house so there isnt room for a backhoe.
I guess we could just have the pool resurfaced and suffer looking after it through winter - does anyone know how expensive that is?
