Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Feb 15, 2013 9:48 pm Hi, I thought I'd share our pool build journey. We decided to go for fibreglass because we were told it had a longer warranty than concrete and we couldn't get our heads around choosing a tile band that would be both modern and timeless. We went with Narellan Pools because they had a good reputation, a great website and a pool colour we were keen on. Grey is a key colour in our home and their "Grey Quartz" pool throws and lovely light blue/aqua colour. Here are our stats: 8.3m x 3.5m Maderia Pool by Narellan Pools in Grey Quartz - just under $30K from memory 3 x deck jets (water feature) - $900 Solar heating - $4K 5.5m glass pool fencing - $1000 installed ourselves (we watched a few clips on u tube, we are very happy with our efforts) Regular pool fencing in Surfmist - $99/panel plus posts, caps, extras, installed ourselves Granite pool tiles from the Pool Tile Company - around $50 per square metre to buy, plus $70 per square metre to lay x 76 square metres = ouch! Although by doing this we've created a second outdoor area near the pool and have the one tile from the outdoor area right though to the pool. We love it. Before: Digging - the pool was originally meant to be another foot closer to the house however due to positioning of the pipes had to be a bit further away. The pool shell. Moving it into place: It's in: This is it at the end of day three. Technically we could be swimming. Well, that was December 2012. I will post some newer pics soon. After much deliberation we are pleased to advise that Narellan Pools have also offered us the most competitive quote. Our Architect is currently finalising drawings with the Symphony 6 (6.3 x 3.5) in Marbleglass. We are indecisive in regards to which Marbleglass colour to select. Would you please attach additional updated photos of your Grey Quartz pool on a beautiful clear day, overcast and also in the evening. Did you install pool lights? Thank you so very much. Bella. Re: Our Pool Build (Fibreglass, Qld) 5Aug 11, 2013 9:12 pm Hi all, Sorry for neglecting this thread. Here are some more pics and I will try and get some current ones for you too. In regards to the duration of the build it was really quick, the pool was finished within 5 days. The rest of the steps depend on your tradies and weather. The concrete was done in one day plus waiting 4-6 weeks for it to cure before being tiled on. The tiling took about 5 part days. The fencing we did ourselves so that was over multiple weekends. We did get lighting installed, it is a colour changing light which is really cool. This is following a big storm when it was nice and clear and the part that is not in the shadow is what the colour looks like in the sun. The colour is spectacular and we are very happy with the choice. This is how it looks in the shade so overcast would be the same. This is how it looks when the weather is in between. This is not long after the tiles were finished and also shows the glass fencing (which we did ourselves!) Sorry the pic quality is not great. I will try and get a current pic for you. In all we've been very happy with it and love our pool. It was great to see your photos too - looks awesome! Re: Our Pool Build (Fibreglass, Qld) 7Aug 27, 2013 8:20 pm Dream House 82 Hi all, Sorry for neglecting this thread. That included the upgraded colour range and colour changing lights. We then added $900 for 3 deck jets (water feature). And $4K for solar heating. Re: Our Pool Build (Fibreglass, Qld) 10Aug 31, 2013 11:46 am That's not with paving but includes the cost of the coping. The paving was about $10K for 80m2 of granite, supplied and laid.
