Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Jan 27, 2013 8:38 pm Just wondering if anyone has non-permanent gazebo or tent installed over their pool? Something from this range: http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_cat ... ebo&page=1 Maybe: http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_pro ... ebo&page=1 Is it bad/good idea and do you need a council approval to place temporary things like that? Would the shade sail be better? I know it's ten times more expensive than the above... Thoughts? Re: Gazebo, Shade Sail etc over the pool 2Jan 28, 2013 7:23 am i would go shade sail i think it holds up a bit more to the weather. we did not need council permission but you may need to ring your council and ask Re: Gazebo, Shade Sail etc over the pool 3Jan 28, 2013 4:50 pm Would not use a gazebo. Have seen many slammed into fences and wrapped around clothes lines from storms. Even If you cement it in it'll just warp or snap. It'd likely end up in your pool! Does it get attached to the fence or a separate pole? Re: Gazebo, Shade Sail etc over the pool 5Jan 28, 2013 6:15 pm The shade sail are attached to a combination of bolts in the house and poles they can put in. The advantage is that you can quite easily put the shade sail up and down based on what you want. We're looking at adding one to the back of the house for shade in summer but take it down in winter. Re: Gazebo, Shade Sail etc over the pool 6Jan 30, 2013 10:55 am I fitted the large square bunnings shade sail over my father in laws pool. It is retained by 4 steel posts (100 x 100 x 5mm) that are all cemented at least 1mtr in the ground, and stand 2-3mtrs above ground. During the storms and wind in west Brisbane over the weekend it was fine. The sail flapped around a lot, but was as strong as the day it went in. That being said a friend had an expensive sail installed by 'professionals' fitted to ally posts and a brick wall of his garage. Over the last say 5 years through various storms, it has bent all the posts, pulled one out, damaged the pool edge and eventually pulled over the garage wall. It was a waterproof canvas type. I am surprised by how well the Bunnings one has stood the test of time for the price we paid. Re: Gazebo, Shade Sail etc over the pool 7Feb 02, 2013 10:09 am Yep - it might be good to be able to lower the sail/umbrella when not needed. I've seen "motorised" ones about that have a weather warning device too. I'm currently looking into this so any advice is most welcome. Re: Gazebo, Shade Sail etc over the pool 8Feb 16, 2013 1:00 pm I've got 2 shade sails over my pool here in Perth. Was on the pool when we moved in so not sure about council permission. In terms of strength/durability, were about 100-150m from the sea so it's pretty windy but we've had no issues. Hi everyone, Looking for some advise. We are about to build an above ground pool in our backyard. There is a private sewer line running under the pool at 1.6m… 0 7655 So my laundry is very outdated. The floor is this hideous green colour. have seen people overseas painting over this but worried about the longevity and the proper… 0 8734 You can put a roller blind behind the shutters. It will be much less noticeable when not in use. 3 16491 |
