Having said that, conifers can be good around the pool in pots, they are tidier in appearance and growth than a lot of others, while leaf drop is less. They aren't fast growing though. Anything fast growing is going to drop leaves more often since it's all part of the growth cycle. Re: what trees 3Dec 08, 2012 11:53 am Pittos, that variety with silvery foliage. We had one and it literally dropped NOTHING during 10 years. Amazing shrub. Plus, its roots are quite small and no invasive. I'd also suggest murraya, but while it also drops ZERO leaves, it does flower a few times during the year, so you would have a bit of that. They have super non invasive roots. And both are evergreen, if you need to think of sun access. HOWEVER. If you don't have easy and good access to them to trim them ocassionally, better look at other options that dont need trimming.
