Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Nov 14, 2012 7:57 pm Posted this in another area, but haven't had any responses. We are getting a pool put in shortly and are a bit bamboozled by all the choices of pavers out there. I am leaning towards Travertine as the coping can be done in the same paver as the remaining surrounds (this simple look appeals to me). Someone also mentioned Travertine pavers tend not to get as hot as others. Is this the case? I am also interested to know which type of pavers are considered to be the least slippery/most slippery when wet. We are looking to have them glued to concrete, as this seems to be the most stable method. If you had this done, roughly how much per m2 did you pay for this? So, what type of pavers did you get and why did you get them? What type of pavers did you use and why? 2Nov 14, 2012 8:19 pm I use a lot of travitine , concrete , sandstone , bluestone.it is best to get what you like most. Travitine is very popular at the moment. It is natural looking cool to walk on & grips better when wet. Sandstone looks great in the correct environment , is cool to walk on & very non slip to the point where it can easily graze your skin. Avoid the soft sandstone on copings as it will constantly leave sand in your pool. The Indian & Himalayan works well. Concrete is cool low slip available in variety of colours , hard wearing. Bluestone is a classy finish but being dark is a lot hotter than others very good grip factor. Remember with natural stone no 2 pieces are the same & particularly with blue stone it can have course sections throughout the stone Hope this helps. Re: What type of pavers did you use and why? 3Dec 14, 2012 11:25 pm We used travertine and really happy with the finished product, the alfresco and the area inside the pool has been glued on concrete on a screed bed. We paid $45sqm direct from the importer and paid $40sqm to lay it, my DH sealed it himself using a product recommended by the supplier, so far no problems. The copers aren't quite finished, still need the gaps filled Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: What type of pavers did you use and why? 4Dec 23, 2012 8:36 am I'm actually planning to use sythetic grass at the rear of the pool - an area you won't walk and hard to get to. I wanted something that looked good - but needed little care. Narrow strip running along the far side of the pool. Looks very like grass and colour/grass sets the pool off well. Re: What type of pavers did you use and why? 5Dec 23, 2012 11:29 am Combination of Glass Fencing, pave/decking combination is similar to what we were contemplating...... Pool surrounds are looking great Gogo....can't wait to see the end result.... Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 12977 Appreciate that Chippy. I won’t do sand under pavers and will connect all up under pavers, however I was going to do: 1) Roadbase compacted with manual hand tamper 2)… 10 13952 |
