Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Aug 12, 2012 12:28 pm Hello So I am fairly new to renovating, and just had a new front verandah done on my 110 yr old qlder In Brisbane. Took a few weeks and took me a few months to paint and then recover from the whole ordeal!!! Single woman here, no hubby to do stuff for me! Bf doesnt live with me, it is my own house. Anyway I have a further $80,000 to spend on: a) A really decrepid but large bathroom. Last reno would have been 1975 according to council records. All wooden floors and will need existing vanity, bath etc ripped out , needs tiling of floors and all new fitout b) New kitchen. Same date 1975, very very small, very rotten. Just want something that has more storage space c) A swimming pool. This has been a wish of mine for 10 years. All up, will not be doing any work myself except for painting of kitchen and bathroom and planting plants around pool. Currently I am paralysed with fear and don't know where to start. Which project is likely to blow out on cost? Should I attempt the pool first, ie the larger project? Its a lot of money and a lot of stress. I dont want to mis-use the money and make any costly mistakes. Re: Bathroom Kicthen, Swimming Pool where to start? 2Aug 12, 2012 1:11 pm What will you use most should be your priority! For me it would be 1. Kitchen. Use 3-4 times per day ( most expensive room in the house and most important if you want to sell in the future) 2. Bathroom. Use couple of times per day (2nd most expensive also important selling point) 3. Pool. Perhaps use couple of times per week. Change size depending on how much money you have left. (A pool is a lifestyle choice, installing one can limit the number of people interested in buying a house so worst value for money as far as investing in your property) The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get !
