Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Jul 10, 2012 3:33 pm Most of the threads I have read through seem to be horror stories (and often single posters). Can anyone tell me their good stories as this is how I decided to go with Beaumonde homes. We were looking at Sapphire pools, but reading here, and here http://www.pomsinperth.com/discussionbo ... 11&t=12687 and here http://sapphire-pools-install.blogspot.com.au/ has scared me a little. Not after the cheapest and need someone who is honest Cheers Need some advice on a Perth Pool company 2Jul 10, 2012 4:28 pm We are also looking at putting a pool in with our build. Sapphire, buccaneer, aqua technics are all the same company. We've also heard horror stories about these companies and are a bit concerned about using them. A colleague of DF used one of these companies and ended up paying thousands over the quoted price - bobcat driver (who is subbed) charged him an extra $800 for the dig after having a 2 hour lunch break in his backyard. Had to re-locate the pump as it was installed too close to the pool. And apparently even installers spitting in the pool once the water truck had been. We know someone who has just put a deposit down with riverina pools in rockingham (there is also one NOR) and looking forward to seeing how they go as we may end up using them also. They also have some sort of package going at the moment with 5k worth of extras to spend on bull nosing, blanket etc etc ... Building the Riva by Dale Alcock Homes. Have heard several good reports Thinking about going with them, however not sure if 10k extra cost is worth it... (similar pool with other companies cost 10-12k less)... They are more expensive than other companies but want to hear more about people's feedback who had the pool for some time. Re: Need some advice on a Perth Pool company 8Jul 31, 2012 12:46 am Hi I think sometimes that you can always find bad reviews as thats usually why people post - so I thought I shoul dpost a good news story.... I have put pools in twice - once with Freedom Pools about 12 years ago (not happy Jan) and more recently with Aqua Technics. I have a cottage bock but wanted a very contemporary straight line pool and was told by most pool companies that I would have to put in a concrete - My budget at the time wouldnt extend to that. Aqua technics had just brought out the Alfresco (small L shaped pool) I was the first one in WA to put it in aside from the display - The whole process was a breeze. I met someone recently building in North Perth and paying in excesss of $40K for the exact same pool to get the shape - whenever anyone sees mine they always say Oh concrete isnt that cold Had lovely fremantle stone edging and paving and glass fencing - all up about $22K.... Was the best money ever spent and I am just building again and would go through them again without hesitation. Good luck Need some advice on a Perth Pool company 9Jul 31, 2012 1:07 am Hi sharon great story.. Out of curiosity what are the dimensions of your pool?? We have looked at several companies and it seems difficult to find ANY pool under 20k just as the base price - fencing, bull nosing, blankets etc etc all extras. We are currently installing our third pool and have decided to go with Riverina. Our first two pools were with Aqua Technics and Buccanneer and we really didn't want to go with them again. Both times we were slugged with extras (the bobcat thing as mentioned above was something we also encountered TWICE, bigger crane charges, tip fees etc) and in the end the price we were quoted was ALOT lower than what we ended up paying out. My brother also had the same experience last year with Aqua Technics so I don't think we were just unlucky. Riverina have been brilliant so far, none of the usual selling techniques and when they actually make our pool we can go up and see them do it! They are part of the Leeder Marine Company which I hear make excellent boats so we figured they must be pretty reputable. Hope this helps - we agonised for MONTHS over what pool company to go with (we also like Barrier Reef and Leisure but they were just so much more expensive we couldn't justify the price). Fingers crossed we made the right decision, but so far we think we have. Good luck! Re: Need some advice on a Perth Pool company 11Sep 02, 2012 4:39 pm I would stay away from Sapphire pools if you can. I understand that due to shape and size you may be forced to go with them but if you do be very very careful about what you actually write in your pool contract. We have recently been trying to get out of a contract with sapphire pool and after weeks and weeks of nasty threats to take 35% of the contract they have finally agreed to cancel the contract (after we got legal advice). My story is we signed up after we told them what we wanted and were assured that they could accommodate our requested. They then tried to get me to pay the deposit more then once as they had "forgotten" it had been paid and when it came down to approvals the truth came out and they couldnt actually do anything that we initially asked (positioning and location of the pool). It became very evident that they had only told us what we wanted to hear to get us to sign a contract with them. They then said that due to a clause in the contract they are eligable to 35% of the contract even though they had done nothing, no approvals, purchases or anything. They then told us lie after lie to try and put all the blame on us and get the 35% but couldnt get any of the actual facts right because they are so stupid. Last friday they dropped it as they didnt have a leg to stand on but I will never deal with them again. They arent professional and work by a "yeah, she'll be right" attitude and they will tell you what you want to hear to sign up. If you do go with them make sure you write everything in the contract and get all phone calls and conversations in writing as they will lie. Need some advice on a Perth Pool company 13Dec 04, 2012 11:51 pm Hi AGF, we are about to sign with Riverina. We had a site visit and measured up to make sure it would all fit etc and all seems good. We know of someone who has just had a pool installed with them and is very happy. They currently have the $5000 promotion on (gotta sign up before Xmas) where you can spend the 5k on whatever you want - the sales guy has informed us that will cover a pool blanket, bullnose paving around the pool, spa jets and auto cleaner. We can also use it to cover the disposal of the sand from the excavation - couple of hundred. Equivalent size pool with buccaneer is 1k more and the sales guy was pretty poor. (wrong colour powder coating, then refitted with scratches and missing fasteners) but I believe they are using a different fencing contractor now. Re: Need some advice on a Perth Pool company 15Jan 17, 2013 2:35 pm We put a Sapphire pool in our last house, and had no problems at all. Maybe it depends on who your dealing with. All the people we dealt with were very professional and it all went really smooth. We will probably go with them again for our next house. Thank you so much for the effort. We will use it to talk with builder. We also had idea of building duplex instead and seeking suggest ions. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=106744 11 10630 Hi VK, I am now retired however I have stood beside over 300 owner builders in the past 18 years that have successfully built their own homes.
