Browse Forums Pools & Spas 1 Dec 13, 2013 12:04 pm Happy Friday everyone!!! My husband and i are embarking on the long road to looking at installing a pool at home. We have a sewer main that runs through the backyard and are able to install a pool without going over the sewer.....but....... If we could go over the sewer we could have an amazing wet edge pool instead of a normal pool against the house. I understand that normally if you build over the sewer you have to encase it but..... the sewer is 6 metres below our house instead of the normal 3 metres. So we would literally have to excavate down 6 meters to encase the sewer to put the pool in. Does anyone know if the 'Zone of Influence' is drawn in a circle around the sewer?? So that as long as you are a certain distance above the sewer you dont have to incase it???? thanks in advance Re: Building Pool over Sewer 2Dec 14, 2013 8:03 am I remember going through all the piering issues with pools and the slab etc. If it is 6 metres down you could always ask the council ... but ... Re: Building Pool over Sewer 3Dec 15, 2013 7:24 am It isn't the council but the water authority you need to deal with. I have never found them to be flexible with their rules. People often think because he pipe is deep its better but it is much worse. At 6m down you will find most of your yard if not all is affected by zone of influence. The encasement will be expensive at that depth as it will need a wide excavation & bracing the sides to make it safe to access . Good luck Re: Building Pool over Sewer 4Dec 15, 2013 11:12 am Hi, Yes, for a sewer it is the water authority, like Sydney Water, who govern this. They for instance will not normally allow a permanent structure right ON a main sewer. Here are their guidelines as an example, p11 is interesting. http://www.sydneywater.com.au/web/group ... 045376.pdf Why not consider a good looking above ground pool with a deck? They probably will not object to that because it is movable. Re: Building Pool over Sewer 5Dec 16, 2013 10:10 am amsmeq Happy Friday everyone!!! You may have just bught the bullet and just have the pool close to your house. We are about to build an above ground pool in our backyard. There is a private sewer line running under the pool at 1.6m… 0 12295 I think you are getting different numbers because they all just based them on "other jobs" even though each job is unique.
