Browse Forums Pools & Spas Re: Pool Coping/Pool Area Tiles - PLEASE HELP!!! 21Apr 26, 2011 12:08 am I recently installed this pool with Granite Coping and Tiles called western grey. [url] By http://profile.imageshack.us/user/surfnturf By [URL=http://profile.imageshack.us/user/surfnturf] The coping is 40 mm thick and was $1580 and the Paving is 20 mm thick and was $75 per square metre delivered to site. I poured a concrete slab with mesh and then direct stuck the paving to the concrete using a rapid set adhesive. The coping has coloured caulking (waterproof pool proof silicon) between the end joints and between the coping and normal paver's.Colour was misty grey for both the cement based grout and silicon caulking. Your pool looks great! I actually really like Granite but my wife isn't a fan of the 'pebble' look. Otherwise Granite would have been a definite possibility. I did find one granite my wife half-liked: http://macrostone.com.au/products/white-cream-gallery We will keep this also as a possibility. Re: Pool Coping/Pool Area Tiles - PLEASE HELP!!! 23Apr 29, 2011 8:53 am Hi guys, Just thought I'd update this thread incase anyone was interested in using Travertine Honed & Filled outdoors. I found a thread on an Aussie forum site called "Tile Talk". It seems Travertine H&F is fine outdoors and is non-slippery. Here is the thread: http://www.tiletalkaustralia.com/profes ... areas.html Also, just to update Lex on my tile situation , we are visiting three more showrooms this weekend. We will either be getting a light coloured travertine (creamy colour) Honed & Filled or Shellstone (Limestone). Here is a picture of the Shellstone: http://www.completehome.com.au/outdoor_ ... id=3475759 Re: Pool Coping/Pool Area Tiles - PLEASE HELP!!! 24Apr 29, 2011 9:08 am Wo ho!! This stone is magnificent http://www.completehome.com.au/outdoor_design/outdoor_design_projects?cid=6328&pid=3475759 ... love the warm sandy colour! Is this the honed and filled travertine on these 2 pics??? And of course, all this lovely warm stone is only available in Qld !!??!! (And thanks for the update ) EDIT Note to self: Read what it says. It's not travertine on the 2 pics. It's limestone Shellstone My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Pool Coping/Pool Area Tiles - PLEASE HELP!!! 25Nov 05, 2012 3:12 pm I think you should use sandstone tiles because these are durable and strong. These tiles looks great in pools and patios. ________________________ sandstone tile Re: Pool Coping/Pool Area Tiles - PLEASE HELP!!! 26Jul 24, 2013 9:05 pm Agent_009 - What did you decide on???? 2 years on and we are looking at travertine in a pale/grey colour. Love the Linen colour you posted earlier. Any pictures? Did you get travertine honed and filled? Is it slippery? Any advice??? Re: Pool Coping/Pool Area Tiles - PLEASE HELP!!! 27Sep 13, 2013 7:39 pm Hi Agent, You are receiving contradictory information it seems( ver common due to a general lack of knowledge by sales people). You have been very specific regarding colour selection, and because of this I would recommend the following link. Look at the White Quartzite as it has a R rating of 12 and looks stunning when layed. http://stone-pavers.com.au/sandstone-paver/ If you feel a little daring have a look at the link below as its basically Australian Harkaway Bluestone drop down 100mm copers with the White Quartz pavers surrounding the pool..... I am also an expert when it comes to installing, so just post anything you need answered regarding Stone Paving. http://stone-pavers.com.au/portfolio_ca ... ool-tiles/ Re: Pool Coping/Pool Area Tiles - PLEASE HELP!!! 28Sep 18, 2013 9:21 pm Surfnturf I recently installed this pool with Granite Coping and Tiles called western grey. What is the total cost of the pool and paving? Re: Pool Coping/Pool Area Tiles - PLEASE HELP!!! 29Apr 08, 2014 6:06 am My husband and I had sandstone tiles laid professionally around our pool several years ago and they still look great. My husband and I were going to lay more sandstone over concrete paths around our house and garden and have bought 4 crates of tiles. While similar in colour the new tiles are very soft and mark and scratch easily and crumble around the edges very easily when handled. The supplier will not come out to inspect the tiles delivered and is saying all sandstone is like this and it is normal. Is this the case or have we wasted our money as they will not accept return or refund. Re: Pool Coping/Pool Area Tiles - PLEASE HELP!!! 30Jun 03, 2014 11:27 am Sorry for the late reply everyone haha...just back on these forums as we're looking to build. We went travertine tiles...honed and filled. They are brilliant! Always cool under your feet (even in middle of summer) and they look grand. They do get a little slippery when wet but not too much and you get used to it. We love them and will be getting very similiar ones in our new house!! How did you find the width? Was it enough do you think? Ours is going to end up at 2.5 metres and I'm worried it will be too narrow (looking at 9.5 metres in length) Wiz Built @ Brooks Reach Built the Verdelho Guest with Beechwood Re: Pool Coping/Pool Area Tiles - PLEASE HELP!!! 34Jun 12, 2014 4:47 pm Ours is 2.9m wide to be precise.
